I used to build custom rifles on occasion and a buddy of mine talked me into building him a .30-.378 Weatherby. I finally got the barreled action today. I would like to shoot the rifle out to a mile and even a little more on occasion. I also want to be able to shoot the closer stuff also.
Here is what I have:
34. in Pac-nor 3 land and groove barrel. 1.35 in. tapers to 1.1 at the muzzle.
Hall E action.
I plan on bedding the rifle into a big tactical type stock. I like the tactical stocks even if for this rifle it may not be the best case scenario.
What bullets, powders and tips do you .30-.378 Weatherby users have? I am thinking 190-240 MK's depending on the range I am shooting.
What velocities are you guys getting ?
If this rifle works out the way I hope I may build one for myself; or have someone like Speedy build it for me.
