Has anyone ackley improved the .30-06? Is it possible in a semi auto rifle?

I think the shape of AI'd rimless bottleneck cases makes them less reliable in feeding for .30-06 self-loader actions.

Add 6 inches of barrel length to a standard .30-06 and you'll get about the same velocity as the AI version plus it would be easier to shoot accurately due to less recoil. Plus more barrel life, too.

In a bolt gun my 30-06 AI does 2900+ fps with a 165gr bullet out of a 24" barrel.

I think it's a great cartridge but no knowledge how it would do out of an semi-auto.
