30-06 Chamber Wildcats

I have a normal 30-06 with a 28 barrel. I get 2800 fps with the berger 215 hybrid. wonder what i would get by going with a improved 30-06??

Shouldn't you have a longer barrel than 22" for a 30/06 AI ?

My rifle has a 26" barrel. I only own a couple of bolt-actions with barrels shorter than 26"...Most are rimfires. I only have 1 centerfire bolt-action 24" barrel...My 5R .308 Win.

If it were me: Figure out if it shoots. If it shoots don't mess with it.

If it is just not fast enough then choose a 30-06 improved chambering that will let you shoot regular 30-06 for fireforming and in a pinch.

I would sell the Mossberg and buy one of the 100s of excellent 300 WinMag 700 ADLs out there.

That will do what no improved 06 can do, have some resale value, give you a good basis for a future build and can be loaded down to 30-30 performance should you wish.

I own some strange wildcats, but no rechambered Mossbers.
