For my Tikka, 59.5g and 165 Accubonds gives 2830fps. That load with a HS-Precision sends the Accubonds 3020fps. I had a M77 that shot 180partitions very well at 57.5grains.

For about 50 years, one of my 30-06 loads has been 56.5gr of IMR 4350 with a 165gr Sierra GK-BTSP or HP at 2,800fps. Back then, I pushed it to 60gr and hit 3,000fps in that rifle with the 165GK, but groups were not as good as I wanted. So, I went back to the best groupings at 200yds with 56.5gr.

That load has taken untold game and a few varmints.

I was shooting Hornady super performance ammo when I added my 06 to a list of rifles that I handload for. I've never had this happen before or since and took it as a sign, not only did it shoot a Cloverleaf group at 100 yards but it was dead nuts zero and I mean dead nuts. I never even touched my scope, I never ran it through the chronograph, because at that point, it did not matter.!

Some have not figured it out, but the Lapua cases will take MORE pressure than Winchester, but the volume is different demanding a different load than Winchester brass.

Some custom chambers do not do well with Lapua 30/06 brass as the SAAMI spec is smaller than the European CIP spec. Lapua 30/06 brass is about .004 larger in the web.

For chambers that will accept the Lapua in the 30/06, 6.5/06, and 280 plus variants, this adds a new dimension to attainable ballistics with heavy bullets with great BC.
