Hey guys. I went out to Vermont on Sunday to go do some long range shooting. I brought my 338 Lapua my custom 280 Remington that I built. Start out the day with a cold bore impact at 1000 yards. I shot about 10 or 15 rounds at 600, 800 and 1,000 yards. It then moved out to 1500 yards the group of shooters and was successful in landing a hit with a 280 Remington and 338 Lapua. After 1500 yards we moved out to one mile 20 yards. That's 1780 yards! I never shot this far in my life. matter of fact the farthest as I have ever shot before this day was 1100 yards. This was the first time stretching out the legs on my new custom 280 Remington that I just built. It took about 10 rounds to find out what was really going on at this distance. We had three different wins. There was a wind at our back from where we were shooting. There was a left-to-right wind a thousand yards down range. And there was a headwind at us at the Target. For the shot I had three spotters. One watching a flag at 1000 yards. Another watching for impacts and one watching the flag at the Target. I dialed up 62 Moa on my sightron 6 - 24 Power Scope. I use the reticle for an additional 20 MOA of hold over I also dialed 14 moa of wind. In total there was 82 moa of drop that's 1525 inches a bullet drop. It took 3.6 seconds for the bullet to get there. After we saw a impact in the dirt next to the Target my spotters walk me into the target I'm estimating it took me around 15 shots to hit the target after seeing the first Splash in the dirt.
I've looked online to see if there's any kind of record for a 280 Remington at this distance or Beyond. I see a lot of 1000 yard shots but nothing more. I'm not claiming it's some sort of record as I'm sure I could duplicate the shot again. I literally missed a Target 3 or 4 times by inches. By the time the bullet got to the Target was flying at 750 feet per second. Please let me know if there's any confirmed hits Beyond this distance. I will be uploading a video hopefully in the next couple days. For now here are some pictures.
