I'm interested in having a Thompson center encore pro hunter barrel (26" or 28") converted from 7mm rem mag to 28 nosler. I'm pretty sure this can be done, just need to find someone that can do the work for me. I was going to try it myself, but 1) it doesn't make sense for me to incur the price of a reamer I'm only going to use once and 2) not 100% confident I can do it right. Anybody interested in doing this for me and what would the cost be?

Thanks,
Frank

No go in a T/C .
From Mike Bellm- a T/C single shot specialist:

A good excerpt from his article:
You have much greater issues to be concerned about than a few extra feet per second to plow up Mother Earth with a bigger furrow when you miss.

Focus on accuracy and dependability of the TC system first!

Then respect the gun for its worth rather than stretching things to the limit!

How funny. I just emailed Mike and he basically told me it's a no-go. Oh well, glad I asked first, thanks.

No Problem. I have been shooting them and the contenders for 35 yrs. Some of my current Encore guns are a 280AI that I used to Elk hunt with and a factory Pro hunter in 416 Rigby- hand full is an understatement!

I'll just stick with the 7mm Rem mag. I have a few barrels for my encore, muzzle loader, 375 H&H, 300 win mag, 7mm Rem mag, 243 and 223. The encore was the first rifle I ever bought and I hunted with it for several years. I sent the 375 barrel to magna port and had them install a brake, but I've never shot it. I'm sure that's going to be real fun to shoot lol
