.270 All Weather Rifle Choices (Stainless + Synthetic)?

Get the model 70. I just bought a Howa 6.5C and a Weatherby Vanguard 6.5C and was not impressed with the accuracy. Yep Tikka's do seem a little "cheap" and I can't get myself to like their plastic stocks and plastic mags. The look, feel and roughness of the model 70 with that nice 3 position safety is the best, why would you want to try different? I have come to like how a 8 pound rifle shoots, much lighter and lack of perfect form will let your shoot get away from you. But if weight is an issue then I guess Tikka.

As far a weather/corrosion resistance and accuracy combo goes, Winchester. To my knowledge they are the only ones using ALL stainless components. From a pure accuracy standpoint I would be fine with any of them. I have Savage, Tikka and Winchester and I I've shot the Vangard and owned a MKV. I would not hesitate to use any of them. If you are leaning toward the Winchester, I would roll with it just from your experience and nostalgia alone. I mean, Model 70 in 270 Win come on man what's to think about! Just kidding! Good luck!!

I vote for the Browning stainless stalker. Mine is 30-06. Very accurate. I was amazed when I shot less than 1 inch. Oh, at 200 yards. If I bought it first I wouldn't have all them others sitting in the safe!!

I have quite a few Savage rifles that are shooters right out of the box. Their DIY friendliness is also hard to beat.
That poll needs another poll added. I think we're polling most accurate rifle by brand but we're getting what rifle do you own results. Sako and Steyr are way too far down that list and I'm sure most people are not reporting their tikkas in the Sako column.

Sako vote from me. I have the 85 Finnlight in 270 and is my mountain gun. Not sure what they cost now but I think I paid around $1200 a few years ago so price may have gone up.

shoots factory ammo all under MOA (hornady and federal is what I use). Not sure the weight but I'm comfortable carrying it all day and it is topped with a Leupold 2.5-10x scope that gives me plenty of range for what I do with it.

It's because not many members have Sako or Steyr. I have a Sako M995 in .300 WM that harvested an elk at 931 yards with. But I voted for Savage because I have 6 that are shooters out of the box.

Of course, people are voting for what they have based on their experience with them. Why would they vote for something they do not own or have experience with.

For the overall budget, I would go with the Tikka T3X, but have always wanted a Sako. Buying new, you likely are not going to see a Tikka T3, versus T3X. The T3X stock is a bit more robust than those T3s. I have both and like the T3X stocks much better.

I have a stainless T3X and also the new T3X with cerakote. I hunt western Oregon, very damp and I don't worry about either one in the rain.

Sako Finnlight will be on the top end of your budget but you'll not find a finer factory rifle. And if you ever decide to rebarrel, slickest factory action and trigger in production.

I'm looking to purchase a new all weather bolt rifle in .270win and wondering what your guy's experiences are with the rifles I've found below. Good/bad/ugly? Am I missing any brands/models that would fit my criteria? Note: I'm Not looking to get into a custom $2k++ rifle or custom build.

My criteria:
- .270win; Stainless barrel/action/etc; Synthetic/composite stock; 8lbs or under
- Consistently accurate rifle out-of-the-box (no large "hit or miss" quality control issues)
- ~$1500 or under out the door (street price new); not looking at used rifles

What I've found so far:
Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS - $1340 MSRP
- I have one of these chambered in .300wm and love it, but kinda want to try something different
Browning X-Bolt Stainless Stalker - $1190 MSRP
- One of the lighter rifles on the list, but how well do these shoot?
Savage 110 Storm - $865 MSRP
- I like the price on these, but how well do they shoot?
Tikka T3x Lite Stainless - $800 MSRP
- Price is nice, very light, Tikkas seem to have a good rep for accuracy, but they've always felt kinda "cheap" in my hands
Howa HS Precision - $1100 MSRP
- Seems hard to find info on these and I'm not even sure if they are offered in stainless?
Sako 85 Finnlight - $1700 MSRP
- Top of my budget and don't know much about them, are they worth it, good shooters?
Weatherby Vanguard Stainless Synthetic - $750 MSRP
- Only one offered in 24" length barrel; these are under the "Legacy" category on their site - so, not sure if they are still made?

All of the above are SS/Synthetic and have a ~22" barrel with 1:10 twist (24" for the Weatherby) and come in around 7lbs. (+/- 10oz).

Other thoughts:
- I'm not a fan of Remingtons, which is why there are none on my short list
- I looked at Bergara's - but it looks like they don't offer anything in Stainless
- I wish Weatherby offered the Mark V Accumark or Vanguard Accuguard in .270win :(

Thanks for any help!
Look at Bergara's HMR-PRO! Have one of the them In 300 WM. It's a Keeper!
