Hey guys I did some searching ,and not sure I was able to acquire what I was after but I am thinking about doing up a 264 win mag but before I start I would like to know if anyone is shooting the 160 Matrix as this is what I want to shoot out of this rig I would also appreciate barrel twist recommendations, I figured a 1-8 would work just fine but though I would ask .
Any info anyone has for me would be greatly appreciated.

Guys were annealing the 160. The jacket is so long that it folds over itself from my understanding. It is a very accurate bullet in my friends 6.5 Sherman. My Sherman did not like it as much as the 150 Matrix or the 140 Berger. I would try the 160's out. You got the Horsepower with the 264 WM

Thanks guys even the 150 GR bullet has to have some pretty impressive ballistics out of a 264 Mag I would just like to have that bigger bullet than the 140 for big animals I do a lot of Elk hunting.
What is the BC on the 150 as I could not find it on web page .

Here is a 150 recovered from a deer with an impact velocity of about 2200fps

I believe the jacket on the 160's is a bit thick for hunting at distance.

Try a search on here. Litz did a full BC test on the 160 and 150 Matrix. The 150 I believe is. G1 BC of .640 above 3000 fps. With a BC of .604 averaging from 3000 fps to 1500 fps.

Thank you that is some great info a 150 with that BC being pushed at over 3000 really looks promising for a good ELK round . I plan on trying something different by using a Savage 116 action and getting a 26" pre fit barrel from Benchmark with a break I am not doing anything Fancy to it just a cheap build to play with .

I would imagine you'd get over 3000 fps with that set-up as I'm getting about 2920 from a 26 inch 6.5-06.

I've used that bc number out to just about 1400 I believe and it was spot on using a kestre with Horus.

Not to get carried away I used 3100 with the 150 BC you gave me ,and wow this just may be fun . What do you guys think for powder ?

I think you will get 3100 out of a 264 WM. Guys are around that with the 6.5 Sherman and the 160 Matrix. I get 3329 fps with a 140 Berger out of my 6.5 Sherman with N570. I would try N570 or R33. H1000 or Retumbo may also work. Can't remember off hand how fast I was pushing the 150 Matrix. I believe I was around 3200 + or -. With us being in Canada R33 is basically a no go. N570 is available if you look around.

160's shoot good in my 8.5-twist, it's 264wm..

I'm waiting on a new scope at the moment to re-verify everything, but my max-MAX was originally 70.5 Retumbo if I recall right and was well over 3100, nipping at 3200 actually. I got away with "that" largely in-part with the chamber-job itself. The throat is a longer throat than typical in mine, specifically cut for the 160.

...anyway, I turned down from that max to 67.7 (again if I recall correct) and it chrony'd out right at 3045. Also Retumbo. Been trying to find N570 a long time without any luck, so Retumbo is where I've stayed. Same comment as BEEMAN regarding R33, no go/no-way/no how for us on this side of the line.
