Is anyone using this round to shoot 1000 yd competition matches? Shorter matches?

If you want to do it, go for it.
What size bullets are you thinking of.
How is your gun set up, long barrel, heavy weight, factory or custom?
There are unique cartridges being used all the time.

I'm just leaning into this so bare with me. I just bought a Remington 40x in 25-06. Haven't even picked it up yet. Bought it mostly for varminting, ground hogs coyotes and other vermin but the thought of competing has me intrigued. My rifle is being delivered to my local gunsmith and will be assessed. He knows my intent and will advise me accordingly. With that out of the way...

Bullets would be 115 - 120 Seaira. Twist is 1/10 factory barreled action. Have not set it up yet but I'm leaning toward something Leopold or Night force but may try to keep it as original to it's date as possible. Unertle? Jees I love this stuff.

I used mine for 3 position shooting, ranges for that here are not fixed, but maximum is 400 metres, although that range is not always used, some are between 300 and 400.
I think you guys call it silhouette shooting.
We have chickens, turkey, rabbits and foxes as steel targets.
I only used it to prove a point, my rifle I built cost 5 times less than the usual rifles built for this and I was in the top 10.
6.5 Creed rules that comp now.

Cheers.

I forgot to add I was shooting Berger 115g VLD for this in a 10" twist.
My 8" twist 25's now shoot the 135g Berger Hybrid Target.

Cheers.

Your best bet for a 1-10" twist is the 115 Berger, 110 tgk or 110 eld x. I just picked up a 700 long range 25-06 for the same thing you're doing.
I intend to start with a 115 Berger.
I'm topping it with a nightforce shv 5-20.

My brother has a a couple of the Rem 700 Long Range in 25/06. 115g Berger vld hunting with R#22 is taking deer to 600. N165 would be a good powder choice, and the Berger puts deer on the ground!
Good stuff. I've been running the 95 classic hunter in my 6mm and I've been happy with it. I'm looking forward to trying the 115s. I'll keep and eye out for some 165.
