25-06 Loads

Thankfully I am heading back to Wyoming in October for a pronghorn and mule deer hunt. I want to work up some super accurate 25-06 loads for my Ruger M77. It's been free floated, bedded, and has a custom trigger. As an accuracy nut like many of you, I am looking for some recommendations on a great load. Thanks all. Rp

52g - IMR-4831, Mag Large Rifle Primer, 117g Sierra Game King Start low and work you way up. I have been using this load since 1970 in three different Ruger 25-06's. It is a killer. Be very, very careful you don't get too close to the front shoulder. It does terrible things in that area.

The 115 Nosler BT and H4831 is a proven solid combo and if you want to go with a mono the McGuire is my go to

The 110 Nosler AB over top Retumbo in my 26" tubes gives me 3,310fps and 1/2 MOA. I've run that load for a few years now, but I have shot a lot of I/H 4831 under everything from 85NBT for prongs, 100NBT and Speer/Sierra BTSP, Barnes, Hornady 11 7's and Sierra 120 BTSP's.

90 grain Absolute Hammer, 53.0 grains RL15.5. Runs 3625 in 26" barrel.

H4831 powder and Sierra 117 grainers for me. I have used the Hornady 117 also with good luck on accuracy and one shot kills on pronghorn and mule deer. I just got a couple hundred Nosler BT's to try. What part of Wyoming are you headed for?

Imr 4831 and Speer 120 btsp. Not glamorous, but effective. Honest 5 shot 3/4" groups.

Love this bullet because it does well up close too. Many 25-05 bullets are not the best inside 150.

For general hunting, not LR, I run 110g Accubond because it covers everything I may come across while hunting deer. We regularly encounter goats, pigs and wild dogs.
For LR hunting, I like the following bullets all backed by Retumbo, Sierra 117g GK and Berger 115g VLD.
In my 8" twist 25-06, I have only tried out the 131g SMK, tried getting the 131g TMK for both my 8" twist 25-06 and 257Bee, but, no stock of them here to date.
I don't like H1000 or H4831sc in the 25-06, just my preference, and I use magnum primers except with 110g Accubond and H1000 ( only load of H1000 I use).

What is your velocity on that load? If you have run it over a chronograph that is.
