Anyone shooting a 240 for speed goats if so how far out are you taking them, im thinking this should be good to 700 yards.

Similar- 6mm/284 with 90NBT. Very flat shooter, but very hard on meat at 150yds. I had 2 240Wbys that shot the 90X, 75X and later, 95NBT very well. About perfect for antelope, IMO. have a ball Pard!

Are you competitive at 600 yards? the 90 posted above has only a .365 BC The 95 .379 BC I have taken Prong Horns with Hornaday interlock 100's and they have .405 BC the new 103 ELDX has .512 bc

But anyway i hardly ever recover a bullet. always a blow through. Here is one that a far side rib stopped at a lasered 428 yards. It was DRT and big spray out the far side classic heart lung shot. so I figured that it was a pass through. upon cleaning my buddy found this under the skin. :)

Very good performance!

3200 fps ramshot hunter powder 26 inch bull barrel and 2 inch brake. Rem 700 xps varminter lots of chrono and bench rest time.

Hard to beat that!

This only a 243 win with 46.4 grains of powder. I used 10 kinds of powder in testing 100's I have 9 1/8th twist I went for the tightest 200 yard groups at the local range and then zeroed at the 400.

I have a 8X32 60 mm scope. When they are out in the dry grass on a level area they are actually kind of hard to see if they are are just grazing and facing away. This buck was walking away and sometimes at right angles. So I waited for him to turn again and I factored in the time of flight for lead and the shot was perfect.

In the past I have just let things go because I didn't think I could make an ethical shot. I've had friends loose animals and it just ****es me off.

You should buy those 103 eldx and perfect them. Since those days another top powder is reloader 26. With longer barrels you can down load to 3200 fps and work up an accurate load. I was going for .008 off the lands in my rifle

One problem that I see that would be a long range problem is the twist rate and limited to less grain pills.

$2,699.00 – $2,899.00

Overall Length: 46.25"
Length of Pull: 13.5"
Weight: 7.1
Barrel Length & Contour: 24" #3
Action / Barrel OAL: RH 26"
Twist Rate: 1-10"

If I was shooting a 240 Wby. Mag for prong horn I would be using the Berger 6mm 115gr.
Berger has some good load data for that setup with G1 BC .568

I don't have a 10 twist, I have a 8 twist and where I hunt with it is 4500ft. and it works fine
the 1:7 is for sea level

One of the nice things about this type of case is that if you want the same .240 Wby performance and want to keep the cost down you can opt for a 6mm-06 which is pretty much a .240 Wby without the belt and the double-radius shoulder. But... there's just something about the .240 Wby I personally like, call me old fashion. ;) 😂
