22 creedmoor

For many years I shot a 22-243AI, 8 twist. The most accurate load was a 75gr A-Max (moly) bullet at 3,670 fps. Even though the A-Max bullets had a reputation for thin (fragile) jackets, I never dusted one. IMO, if you use some type of bullet plating, you will relieve a lot of the jacket stress cause by rifling engraving.
 
Been playing with the 22 Creedmoor for a few weeks. Peterson brass, 80 gr Berger VLD, H4350.
18" barrel.

Built mine on the Terminus Apollo.

This load would probably lock most rifles you must have your bullets seated out with long throat.
Mine couldn't get past 42.5 without sticking bolt and ruined brass.
Have lots of experience with 20-21 inch barrels and speeds above 3350 are hard to come by until you get to 74,000 PSI
 
Just to add to post above.
H4350 seems to be a popular powder for 22 Creedmoor but not sure it's a great choice? This is just an opinion based on a good bit of experience and a little data from independent pressure test on my old load that I used forever that turned out to be way over accepted max.
There is probably a good reason now that Hodgdon has published data on their website that they did not use h4350 in the 22 Creedmoor.
Look at their velocities and if you see a load online that is WAY out of line with what they show then you can be fairly confident it's above what's considered acceptable pressure.
Now people go well above what's considered safe and acceptable pressures all the time but just wanted to reiterate take loads you see online with a cautious eye. Or risk losing one.
 
For those of you who are shooting the 22 Creedmoor:

Are you using SRP or LRP brass? What made you choose one over the other?
I have SRP lapua it's what was on the shelf at the time. Once this brass is toast I will go to LRP so I don't have to change over the priming set up on my Dillon 750.

From what I have seen LRP or SRP makes no difference to accuracy
 
I will be looking at,.. N-160, StaBall 65, and H-4831sc for, loading the 69 TMK's to 73 gr. BT Berg's, in the 3,400+ FPS range and,..
either H-4895, H-380 or, Varget for, the 53 V-Max, 55 grain NBT's or, SBK's, bullet ( All in, a 1-9 Twist ) @ 3,700 +- FPS or closest, Accuracy Node.
Yup,. I will stick with, LRP too, as it gets mighty COLD, here and,.. I hate, "Hangfires"

Came up on pressure about a grain below this load. Still easily able to shoot the 44.5 gr, just don't want to be on the high node.
Ended up on the low end node at 41.5 gr.
They're not seated long, reamer has .080" fb.
 
Peterson has some interesting data online - they pressure tested a few loads they found on various forums. Definitely worth taking a look at before loading anything posted online.

I've been able to shoot my 22 CM a bit more lately and it's one of my favorite rounds. Easy on the shoulder and is a laser.

Shooting well with the 88 gr ELDM going 3031 FPS. I definitely have room to go with this load, but didn't have time to keep messing with it before taking it out for antelope hunting in September. 40.7 gr RL-23, alpha brass, CCI 450, 88 ELDM .020" off lands. Ended up taking a doe antelope with this at 430 yards on opening weekend.

I had short range trip the other day to finish shooting a few charges of H4350 and the 95 SMK. Best groups came from 35.3 gr for just a tad over 2800 out of my 22" barrel. Will be testing out higher charges in the next few weeks.
