Im in the process of working up a load for deer this year using my savage model 10 predator 22-250. It has a 24" 1 in 12 twist barrel. I have 4 loads Im going to test. The first is one Ive had for a couple years now. Its a 60 grain sierra tmk over Cfe 223. The next three bullets are the 62 and 65 grain sierra gamekings and the last is the 70 grain speer round nose. Im gonna try the heavier three with Superformance and then do a video of all the accuracy and speeds and hopefully take a deer with each this season to see how the perform. Cant wait to try them all out.

I think bullet stability comes into play. My 22-250's are 14 twist and I think can only go to 52 grains. With 12 twist, I think 60 grains. But it dependes on specific bullet and velocity. Be sure to check

Great point, I missed the twist rate on the the OP's post.

I did shoot mine out of a 1 in 9 223 Rem, the they shot just fine of course.

Ive been tinkering with the 70 speer for a little while. It stabilizes just fine. I dont think its a very accurate bullet though. In my 223 or 22-250, I havent been able to achieve any better than a .78 group. They average around an inch. Ive had great success with the sierra 60 tmk. Ive shot my best group ever with that bullet. .323" 5 shots at 100. Regularly still sub 1/2 moa. I have yet to do any load development with the 62 or 65 gk yet. Its been very hot and humid for awhile.

I'm getting good accuracy with the 65 grain Sierra GK out of my Tikka 22-250 8 twist.
Thinking of popping a deer with it this year, killed a ground hog so far. I'm surprised that you were able to get that 60 grain TMK to shoot in a 12 twist? I tried the 64 grTGK in a 12 twisted Swift and didn't seem like it stabilized.

The 45 Grain TSX from Barnes will do the trick on deer sized game from a 1 in 14 twist. It would not be my preferred deer rifle but if you put this little pill in the boiler room at 3500-3600 FPS it will do the trick. I have killed lots of Antelope, Whitetails and Mule Deer with my 22-250 over the years. Its a very versatile caliber. I would not recommend it for any type of long range hunting for animals this large but in the 100-200 yard range it should work just fine.

I've used the 70gr Speer, the 63gr Sierra SMP, 65GK, and the 62grTBBC (which is one of my favorites), and a host of other Barnes, AMAX, Speer, Hornady, Sierra etc, etc in 222, 223, 22/250 and the 22/250AI. Even in my 1-14 twist 222Rem, I could stabilize the Sierra 63SMP at near max vels, so you should have no problems with a 70gr RN in 1-12 twist and at 22/250 vels.

With good shot placement, all of the above have either dropped dear DRT or within a few short yards.

That's much like my 1-14" twist burned out barrel. If you remember I had keyholes with 50 gr VMAX's. In a last ditch I tried some 55gr Berget Target Match and they shot 0.5 moa and under with no keyholes. Head scratcher. As for deer with a 22-250 I wouldn't rule out a 60 gr Partition.

Lots of good advice here. (Is this a great place or what?) Of many great calibers the .22-250 is my favorite.
I shoot a standard 1:12 with Superformance 50 grain, 4000 fps, (which are stable past 700 yards). A little light for deer but super accurate.
