2026 Predator and Varmint Thread - Post Them!

I didn't see a 2026 thread created yet, so figured I'd get one started.

I picked up a new thermal in January and tossed it on my 22 Creedmoor along with 77 TMKs at 3420. They work well!

First coyote with this combo was 644. Probably lucky but I'll take it. Took me a while to walk out and find him in the snow and sage:

A few weeks later, 22 Creedmoor downed this beautiful fox. When I went out to find him, I called the pasture behind the hill and this coyote popped up right away following female vocals. He came trotting in and shot him around 100 yards.

Over the weekend, I spotted this female rummaging around. She would t come in to the call, so I went after her in the dark. I walked quite a few hundred yards and she popped up right by me. 22 Creed dropped her.

The 6 ARC got to play over the weekend as well. 80 degrees, sunny - I figured rock chucks would likely be out. Ended up seeing several. Here are two of the 16 that fell to the 6 ARC and 87 gr Vmax loads.

Congrats! You, Sir, are having way too much fun. That fox is indeed beautiful. My buddies and I hunt on a friend's ranch, and we have a list of critters (coyote, badger, porcupine, rattlesnakes (leave bull snakes alone), bobcat, gophers, etc.) they want us to control/thin down, but foxes are off-limits.

I dusted this girl today.
166 yards with a 16" 300blk
125gr Tipped Match King
1-6×24 XTRII

It blew her lungs and heart out of her body. I misjudged by range estimate and hit her a little high. She and her mate have been murdering the heck out of my baby chicks and wiped out my ducks.

I killed the male 2 weeks ago but he crawled into their borrow and have been trying to trap her since then but she was too clever. She always avoided the snares and live traps.

I will hopefully have some peace for a while.

I'm in southern Alberta for a week shooting Richardson Ground Squirrels (gophers). It's too windy for them to come out of their dens right now so I'm shooting rocks to pass the time.
