185 Grain Bullets for moose @ 600YDS or Less?

I have a load for a 338 lapua it is a 185 Barnes X boattail. The velocity at 600 is 2124 and the energy is 2238. Wondering if this is enought medicine for moose (or elk) at 600 yds or less?

Boyd since you are so good with ballistic do you think it would be better to neck up the 308 to take a 338SMK or to neck up a 300WSM to 338 with the same bullet? I want a 308 base wildcat because the stock I order takes that action. Any idea as to speed from a 20-26" barrel?

Since the 300wsm hold's more powder than the 308.I would use it.The 300gr MK is a BIG bullet.You would use up alot of space in the powder room.My guess would be around 2500fps with the 300 out of a 26"tube

Thanks Ilike the heavier bullet and everyone seems to like the SMK's. I'll have to see what a smith can do.
