150 gr, Sierra/6.5x284

I have some of those ordered as well. I'm stoked to see these available. I will be working in a 6.5/06, but case capacity is very similar to 6.5/284. I am planning to try H4831sc, IMR7977, Retumbo and Norma 217 and see what my rig likes. I'll probably run into pressure before getting too far with H4831sc. On the other side of the coin I may also run out of case capacity with Norma 217 before getting to best velocity.

Looks like we will have to make our own data.

I think I'll try RE26, I also have plenty of h1000 and h4350.
I use 55.5gr of re26 for 140vld's
I think to be safe I'll drop down around 53.5gr(re26) and work up from there.

This just in(one day early)

First set with Reloader 26
Savage 116 24" barrel
magnetto spd

54gr.-2916fps.
54.5-2941
55-2972
55.5-3008
56-3049--bolt starting to lift hard and slight ejector marks

Now I have a base to go off, and the process begins.

Had my eye on these but the 1 in 7.5" twist kinda dampened my enthusiasm. I have a 6.5-284 with 1-8". What's your barrel twist wise?

Perhaps it's too early to draw any conclusions, but I'm having a hard time getting too excited about the use of the recent 150-155gr offerings from Berger and Sierra for use in my 6.5x284's. The 7.5 twist requirement aside, trading off the reported velocity loss(100FPS) with these heavier projectiles against the moderately higher BC's that are speculated. it doesn't seem like ballistic improvent is worth the trip......At least for my shooting out to 1000-1200 yards. It looks to be more interesting for use in the larger capacity 6.5's. IMO.
