143 gr ELD-X @ 3500+ fps, 50 yard water jug test

Had some time to go plug a few water jugs at 50 yards with the new Hornady 143 gr ELD-X bullets loaded up in my 6.5 Prometheus, barrel is a 26" 8.5 tw Brux in Rem Varmint contour, 89.0 gr of US869 for a 3 shot average of 3524 fps, got it on video but my video editing software is weirding out on me so I got some stills from the video for your viewing pleasure..........

and the results........ 3 water jugs killed dead !

bullets were loaded for a .032" jump to rifling, the previous 3 shots were with 97.0 gr US869 for a 3 shot ave. at 3435 fps and were fired to verify point of impact prior to the water jug tests with 98.0 gr ........... the two water jug tests were with identical results, 3 water jugs killed and same expansion and weight retention ..................................

Shooting water filled stuff is cool. Try shooting a can of dog food. I swear I couldn't find any pieces of the can .

Hornady data shows the 6.5 Creedmoor at 2750 fps with the 143 gr ELD-X

the 6.5 Prometheus with this same bullet is 2750 fps at 487 yards

I stile think 5 gallon bucket of paint would be way fun. With my 264WM with 85gr sierra HP at 3830 is amazing even on boiler plat at 100 yards. Puts a nice crater and almost goes through.

Swamplord you should try the Sierra 100gr hp you should be able to pass the 220 swift. The light bullets seem to do very well in my 30" barrel with 1 in 8 twist.
