Sweet stick. My favorite caliber. Like others said your MV gonna b way better. In my stock ELR 220 eldx right at 3k with 89grains retumbo. Post some targets when it's tuned in. Congrats!

Ok here is a little testing today

87gr is about the top with 245gr Berger EOL. This is load to 3.92 COAL. Happy in the 2940 range with 245.

Now 230 Atips

Ok again 89 is sticky bolt and slight extractor marks. I have a box plus some of the atips. Going to shoot 87.5-88.5 5 round groups and see what happens.
Again 230 Atip 3.92 COAL.

Beautiful rifle. Love the stock. Looks like a shooter too. I have a 300 RUM. Never shot anything over 215s though. Tagging to see how she shoots. She's sure looking good so far!

Shooting cut short today and not happy about it. Shiny swipe on rim of brass and after 3 shots failed to extract.

Factory Rem 700 action bought as action. Less than 20rds total through the thing. Bad extractor? M16? Thoughts? Posting in Gunsmithing as well.

Well, one thing a RUM is kinda know for is extraction issues..... I have a Sako extractor and it always pulls the fired case out but it can get real tuff sometimes. The main issue is that the specs for the RUM chamber are tight. If you have a tight spec chamber, after three or 4 firings and resizing of the brass the case web has expanded to where it gets hard to chamber and extract. It's really a situation where you need a small base die to get the web back down. You can measure the web area with a micrometer and see the issue. Different brass effects it too. Nosler brass has a larger diameter at the web than some others and will stick on me after 2 firings.

The primer looks a bit cratered, you should have the firing pin bushed while it's in the shop. Once your brass is fire formed to your chamber you might need to decrease the load a bit.
