So I'm doing load development for a 6.5 grendel, I'm getting good accuracy with some 120gr GMX solid copper bullets out of my howa.
120gr GMX
27.5gr TAC
2340fps
2.245oal
But I have a few questions, I've never hunted with a solid copper bullet before but this was what I could find with the crazy in the world right now.
I'm fixing to go do some management whitetail doe hunts, they should weigh 120-150lbs on the hoof with ranges out to 200. I'm normally a neck shooter and haven't had a deer runoff in years. But I also usually use berger hunting or ballistic tipped bullets that go in and explode. Where should I aim with these, will high neck shots be fine? Or should I just go for the tried and true shoulder shot? What's been your experience with solid coppers?
I'm aware that they are known for weigh retention.
