Yellowstone Touron

well if the whole video was posted the guy did nothing at all to provoke the bull, he was looking at it from across the road dusting itself then got up a almost nailed a truck then went after the guy and looks like his grandson, he was not doing anything
Except stopping to take pictures.........
When that kind of situation is happening, it is not time to pull out your camera! It is time to take cover and stay hidden. What is wrong with people thinking these animals are tame?
Hopefully he heals quickly.

We didn't do our "Buffalo tourist toss pool this year" due to lack of interest. But I have to say this guy had kept to the parks recommended distance, but was dealing with an adjated bull full of testosterone. Someone or something was going to get plowed. I am glad he wasn't hurt too bad. I certainly don't feel that way about a lot the tourons.

He looked like he was a respectable and respectful distance away. I think that idiot in the truck honking the horn is what set off the bull.

The bull's cousins on Catalina Island are a LOT tamer. I drove a K5 right thru their bedded-down spot in the middle of the road coming back to The Isthmus from Avalon's bars one night. My only real impression of the species is that that they're dumber than cattle. You almost have to work at being that!

I'm all for beating up on the "tourons" that do stupid things and win stupid prizes.

Sadly, this was NOT that. This was just a normal 'old guy' with his grandson (looked to be early to mid-teens?) standing 100 yards away (that's far people!) watching the bison roll around in the dirt. All was fine/safe until a jackwagon (park staff!) drove by and honked at the bison, p-i-s-s-ing it off! And the bison attacked a tree because the truck driver fled in his (park service) truck, then the buffalo looked for something else to attack.

That's when grandpa told his grandson to run away while he tried to distract it to save the young kid from harm. He succeeded! A good man. But the bison caught him and tossed him 8ft into the air, as seen in the video. The landing looked rough. Turned out he broke his femur in four places. Thankfully the buff seemed satisfied with his 'toss' and didn't trample or gore the injured grandpa further.

Not sure how any of us would be doing after getting picked-up and tossed like that. Hopefully he has a smooth recovery without lasting issues to his health and mobility.

It would be nice if people could quit belittling him when he did nothing wrong and a whole lot right (saved his grandson!) What would YOU do to save one of your kids or grandkids from harm? Seems like the park service driver of that white truck that honked and set this whole sequence of events in motion should be found and fired, at the least.

I'm glad gramps survived. He did good with the poor hand someone else dealt him. God bless and fast healing to him.
