I am falling apart ...

Reverse Shoulder Replacement???
So now one hand faces forward all the time..
... interesting 🤔
Reverse shoulder replacement

In nature the ball is on the humerus with the socket on the clavicle (?).
In some cases, they Reverse that and put the socket on tge humerus and the ball on the clavicle.
My orthopedic surgeon said my shoulder was "ALMOST" bad enough to require a reverse. As I understand it, the reverse is a bit more delicate* than just a straight forward replacement.

* - more likely to fail (?)

P.S. - J. Henderson - same situation, right handed/right shoulder!
I asked surgeon, "Have you doomed me to wiping left handed for the rest of my life?"

I had an acute dislocation of the radio distal ulna right wrist, nothing broken just lots of soft tissue damage. Required pins and multiple casts. I am one who is doomed to wiping left handed for eternity.

Freshman (1965) year in high school, broke my left arm during football practice. The ball snapped off the humerus, left arm!
At that time I was eating like a refugee because I was never still! Nothing to drink 2 big glasses of milk at lunch, and at breakfast and supper too! Bone healed, but formed a big calcium deposit that restricted elbow flexibility.
Mom couldn't stand not having her baby boy perfect, so surgery to "fix" elbow!
Didn't work!
Now I'm 75 years old and no surgery can repair the elbow. I can't wipe left handed, even if I wanted to!
NOTE:
Orthopedic surgeon says left elbow "can" be replaced.....BUT.....
"IF" I should damage THAT elbow, there is no repairing it!
Currently, I just keep it in a Mueller elbow brace.
I can carry a 5 gallon bucket of water with it, I just can't pick it up! Weight limit on right shoulder implant is 25 pounds.
SOOO...I pick up the bucket right handed, switch to my left hand to carry!

Oh boy!

Can you say…..BIDET. lol.

A snowball is the best there is for an in-the-woods wipe, buy poison ivy leaves are VERY BAD for that application. I was just out in the garden picking some zucchini's, and those leaves have spiky little stickers on them that you can't even see - mostly on the stems. I don't recommend those, either.

Thanks Dan. I'm 76 and scared to death of a fusion
From what I have seen with fusions from other people that I know such as family and friends. Is one leads to another fusion. Biggest reason I stay away from one. I've had 3 laminectomies on the same area. Injections, physical therapy and lots of pain meds. I don't understand why the Insurance and doctors in the US don't do like they do in Spain. Just fix it with a artificial disc. They have a better outcome than fusions. I was looking into this about 20 years ago. I would imagine it has come a long way since then. I wish I had spent the time and money then.
