Hey Rokslide! Here's How You Test a Scope!

Personally would love to see a test similar to this with Zeiss, theta, zco,Schmidt and Kahles, they want 4 to 6k so why not, bet I can answer that though. Still, it made NF famous, and if anything it'd get a load of views I'm betting.
One reason I stopped supporting the "slide" is for this reason amongst a few more. I made a very strong case some time ago that they should test some high end stuff and test more than 1 of each brand, no matter what they choose to make it real, but it seems that did not align with their "expert" tester so I was a fudd.

I remember them and many others pooping all over brands like Leupold, Kahles, and Vortex when the top PRS guys seem to run them all at high levels and win with them. Pic attached. Everything fails including NF - I have witnessed it while hunting.

Yeah many are sponsored but having been at one point sponsored by about 11 different SHOT brands, I can tell you as far as glass goes, if it is crap, I do not care how many you gift me, I won't run it. Same with pro shooters - and Leupold is #2 on the list.

Humorously, according to the "slide" and their testing, every single person on this list using a Leupold is a loser from the start. Every single Leupold fails 100% of the time 😂

I know of few people that put their scopes through really hard use purposefully, to PRS levels, or even dragging them behind a truck. I mean mistakes happen, things fall, men fall, horses fall, we drop stuff. There is I hope, not a single person, that would not zero verify their kit if the felt is was compromised.

They will gladly test whatever you want. Provide the scope. They do those tests from their own dollars. So buying tons of "alpha" scopes and then dropping them on the ground can get expensive.

Alternatively, if you don't like the Rokslide crowd. You could front the money on scopes and do all testing you wanted here on this forum. Please post your results.

Total BS - I even offered to come on their podcast and debate them live. Crickets.

"They?" The testing they do is crap; their protocols are crap and then they act as if they are the final word in a scientific outcome. False. So spending 4 thousand of my hard earned dollars to "test" something to benefit them and their flawed testing protocols? Much less to do it correctly and test multiple scopes for a total of 40k. Wanna donate to the cause?

The "slide" crowd is a broad statement which is a fallacy...there are a lot of good guys that take part.

Follow a "faceless, nameless, and most of the time, ignorant expert" that since he is supported by the site, thinks he can do no wrong and say anything, as far fetched and BS as it is. He talks and acts like a fool on the site and on the podcast, so I call him one. Believe what you like.

Would love to read what testing protocols you have put together...sounds like you are a fan and have been cheering them on for a bit.

A pretty good scope test is a springer air rifle. Put the scope on a Diana 48 .22 and see how long they last.

An AR10 may not be as good as a springer for a test platform, but I've destroyed a couple of older scopes mounted on one. Rattle rattle loose on the inside on one in 200 rounds after multiple trips on the KD range. Ammo all single round loaded from bolt locked back position, à la springer.

PRS allows you to check/adjust zero, before each match. Hunting doesn't allow you to do this.
So the scope PRS shooters use is irrelevant.

I have a friend that shoots PRS a bunch. He has 2 Leupold VX-5's. He has 2 of them, so he has one to use while the other is back for repairs. He uses the VX-5's, because the reticle works best for him shooting PRS.
When he drew a sheep tag a few years ago he went with a NF NXS, because the VX-5's don't hold zero.

Are you saying you offered to send them a scope for evaluation and they refused?

Don't hold zero, but continues to use them? This story has an oder to it.

Reading their scope tests got me to start an account on that site. I've also had spats with some of the die hards there. However, I kept an open mind and tried some stuff they do there…and guess what? I have no more scope/optics issues. I don't clean my bores…and have no precision or accuracy issues. I run smaller cartridges/calibers nowadays and still kill stuff every year…without recoil. There is wisdom over there if you're willing to throw out conventional gun/hunting ideology. I'm no fan boy of Rokslide, but I am a fan of common sense stuff that works that they do share over there.

Again…if you have a better way and want to share your testing methods with alpha glass, be my guest. I'd be interested reading a post with you throwing your Khales scope on the ground.

I have shot a lot of PRS and NRL Hunter and have seen the same thing. The MK5 HD is their only scope I see that some of the guys actually use for hunting. The MK4 is a pile with horrible glass.

You NEVER clean your bores? Are your rifles strictly for hunting with little to no range shooting?

My creed rokslide special has never had a patch or a brush down it ever and has spent 98% of its life suppressed. I have seen zero issues and no change in accuracy. That barrel has about 700 rounds on it now. I shoot a book max load of imr4350 or stabal 6.5 with a 130tmk

I have a bartlien I have done this with also on a different rifle, with a max rl26 load I saw issues around 450 rounds suppressed.

The issue was backflow of brass into my ejector hole causing the ejector plunger to stick and fail to eject.

I backed the load down and issues went away. I am unsure if that is due to pressure, if so it could be related to carbon buildup from not cleaning or perhaps it was the heat of the summer with rl26 which I've found very finicky. That rifle has no issues with factory or other loads I've used.

I do not currently tell people not to clean their barrels, but that's what I'm doing right now
