I had an MRI done on my left shoulder yesterday due to an annoying pain. Today, I was told I have a shoulder labrum tear. I am scheduled to see an orthopedic surgeon in a couple of weeks.
a recommendation after having double rotator cuff surgery 18 months ago, try some physical therapy first for a couple of months

L😂L! I have had two rotator cuff surgery (2012 and 2021) on my right shoulder as noted in # 8 and 90, so this is nothing new to me.

The golden years sometimes are not so golden.
Always wondered as a young person years ago. Why do the retired people set at home so much. Now i know!!!
Prayers for a speedy recovery feenix.
Mom always said "Gettin' old aint for whimps!"
Boy is that the truth!

WOW!
From a 2021 thread on a bad shoulder to what rifle do you build next to I'm 85 and still hunting! LOL!
Junior year in high school. Our little Texas Class A school didn't have enough players for a full defensive squad or offensive squad. I was the offensive right guard and defensive left guard starter. From kickoff to final whistle, I was on the field! ....along with several other guys!
On a defensive play, I popped my shoulder out of joint. (i.e. dislocated). I stood up, painfully popped it back into place and returned to the huddle!
I never told the coach, my parents or any of my teammates! That was 1967!
Shoulder gave me the blues! Not painful, but would pop out of place easily if I wasn't careful!
Fast forward to 2019!
Went outside to shoot a skunk in the front yard. When the gun went off, the pain was instantaneous! Almost dropped the gun, missed the skunk!
Put the shotgun up and called my orthopedic surgeon!
This is result!

Worst part?
It took almost a year to get back to shooting anything with any significant recoil!
Surgery was August 2019. Today, it's back to about as normal as any 75 year old shoulder!
If I overdo it, the shoulder will be a bit sore, but NOTHING like I was experiencing pre-surgery!
My advice?
You can have injections and orthoscopic surgery, but if you live long enough, replacement will be the ultimate end.
Why delay the inevitable?
If you're young, in your 30's or 40's, repair surgery may be fine, but in time, it will most likely need replacing.

I want to go home to Montana this fall for a couple weeks on my annual coyote hunt. However, my spinal stenosis and lower back arthritis make it hard for me to walk more than two hundred yards. My heart and mind are willing, but my back is not. I am avoiding the spinal surgeon as much as I can, but I think i'm running out of time.
I just 10 days ago had L5 and S1 fused for this, tried PT and injections, nothing worked. I am 68 years old, didn't want to decline any further, difficulty hiking or even walking any significant distance, wanted to get back my leg strength for skiing too.
