The issue for light bullets when increasing in caliber is ballistic coefficient goes out the door really fast.
I shoot a 270 with 124 Hammer Hunter (1.227 length and .210 G7 BC) at 3340 fps. Super accurate and likely as far down in BC as I would want to go for that caliber on shots at 400 yds. Probably be ok on coyotes out further though.
The same bullet in .264 has a .1.407 length and .245 G7 BC.
Comparing drop at 400 yds:
.277 at 3340 fps is 21.1"
.264 at 3340 fps is 19.5"
Not a lot of difference in drop/wind but shows the value of the higher BC.

They are just cartridges. Nothing more.
It's the whole shooting system, including the loose nut behind the trigger that produces repeatable accuracy.

I'd go with which ever one pushes the easy button, comfortable to shoot, easy/cost effective to reload for, etc. I also agree with what Lance stated, less recoil for follow-up shots.
