Best 25 caliber rifle?

Not knocking your choice, but this would probably get my vote:

If I didn't already have the bee I might consider that. I'm looking at having a new barrel spun up and it will be going on a long action that is my reason for asking. I'm selling my 270 to a good friends son. He took his first deer with it this past season at my Georgia farm. So I'm looking for the replacement

I'd love to have a 257 WM in a 7-7.5 twist. That would allow one to shoot the highest BC copper bullets from Apex or Hammer as well as the heavy high BC Berger etc. It's about time Weatherby moves on from the 10 twist to something more modern like at least 8 twist. Not that there's much wrong with the 10 twist. All I've ever heard is that it kills like lightning.

When I was about 14 yrs old in 1958 an old boy in town sold Weatherbys out of his basement. He had all the pretty literature to get a young guy enthused. I couldn't afford a Weatherby so bought a pre 64 model 70 in 220 Swift. Not a Weatherby but close enough to get me excited.

I wonder how fast the 257 would shoot the Hammer 89 grain HBC? 3800-4000?

With your bolt face you aren't going to have many choices...257 Wby is the only factory 25 cal with a mag bolt face that I know of.

What do y'all consider the best all around 25 caliber round? I shoot a 257 Wby currently, is there a better round?
Without going wildcat, the .257 WBY is hard to beat. Now that Peterson makes the brass, it's a plus. My .257 WBY 1:7" 22" suppressed propels the 163 Chinchaga at 2915 FPS with H1000 during piqfer pressure test. Not too shabby. I will give the 180/185 when it comes out. If you want the .257 WBY don't let anyone talk you out of it. Good luck!

I've taken deer, antelope, and one elk with my 257 Wby. The elk was a single shot at 350 yards, 120gr Barnes TSX, dropped in its tracks. The rifle is magic on open country where ranges stretch.

But I also built a 25-06 for my son. He shoots it better because he's not flinching from the blast. He's killed just as many deer, just at slightly closer ranges.

I've never had a 25 cal myself, but I gotta say that 25 rpm sure gets me interested in a 25 caliber hunting rifle. I've been enamoured with the 25-06 for years, but have never had the extra cash lying around to have tooooo many rifles (if that is a thing lol). It's not quite as fast as your 257 Wby mag, but it sure has some good looking ballistics with that 117 LRX and 133 Berger!

God bless and let us know what you end up with!
