What is the the most flat shooting cartridge yall can think of?

II'm currently shooting a 25-06 which gives me a MPBR on a 4" target of 298yds with a 115vld.
Here is a fan experiment, if you think BC is not a factor in MPBR try loading the 115 VLD backwards with the same charge and see what your actual dope/drop. 😎 Yes, there a guy that did it with CEB (ESP Raptor) - without tip, with tip, and backwards.

😊

I burned up a 22-250 in my teenage years shooting mostly 55gr pills. Occasionally 40's. But for me the 55's were the better all around bullets. Most of the time it was shooting pigs out around 300 yards in hay meadows.

After I smoked the barrel in that one I moved up to 243win and now 243AI. I'm loving the 6mm bullets. I can drive a 55gr faster than a 40gr out of a 22-250. It was right at 4150 in the straight 243, haven't loaded any for the AI yet. The 62gr barnes varmint grenade was a fun one also. My fireforming load shoots half moa pushing an 85gr gameking around 3200. I've got a few more to fire form then I'm going back to the lighter bullets.

I do often find myself longing for another 22-250 though. I'll have another one eventually.

Easiest easy buttons in order of lowest to highest powder consumption:

22Creed
240Wby
257Wby

The reason I call them the easiest is there's no necking up/down brass work involved and factory rifles are available. IIRC, the newest rifles from Weatherby in .240 are 1:7 or 1:8 so should you decide to flip-flop and go w/long heavies to slip the wind the rifle's ready, just swap bullets and powder charges.

Should probably get the 6.5x300Wby a mention in there too.

The sky's the limit as to how many chamberings one can think of or manufacture that either come close or exceed the above but you're going to be splitting hairs and doing a lot more work (spending a lot more time and $$ too) to end up in the same spot.

Using my data in Strelok for a MPBR for a 4 inch target as the OP was doing:

28 Nosler with 162 gr eld-x 370 yards.
6.5 PRC 143 ELD-x 343 yards
.22-250 handload with 35 gr @4500fps 423yds.
Your data doesn't pan out. The OP is talking about 2" up and 2" down for a 4" total. The numbers on your example only come close at 4" up and 4" down for a total of 8".

264 Win mag with 80 grain Hammer HHT can do about 330 yards 4" MPBR.
