7 SAUM vs 284 Win

My problem is I'm on the need to try something different kick. I doubt I will get any better performance and efficiency than my 280AI, but my hope is the 7SAUM will work a bit better in a shorter barrel. That's my thinking and justification, and I get to take the long road to build something different.
Great minds think alike, especially with super efficient cartridges with great performance.Love my 280AI (both of them) but my 7 SAUM in a short action with a 22" barrel mimics my .280AI's efficiency and performance in a handier version.

My 284 coming in at 5.6 lbs and pushing 168 Berger's at 2930 fps. The more I hunt with this rifle the more I only hunt with this rifle. Quickly has become my go to rifle. Low recoil and great accuracy. I've taken several elk and deer from 350 to 640 yards with zero complaints.

I have both. Really doesn't matter IMO go with either one. One I run a suppressor on, the 284, the 7mm SAUM I shoot straight with a 26 inch barrel. Based on reloading components available I would go with the 284.

Honestly this is a debate between a silver Honda accord and a silver Toyota camry... spitting hairs in horsepower and features differences. Both are gonna be just fine with minor differences and slight trade offs. Brass wrapper and a few fps don't make much difference.

*edit
Don't mean to be trite about the dilemma, years ago I'd print out sheets and sheets of cartridge comparisons and pour over the decision. Years later now I've owned (sometimes concurrently) all manner of competing cartridges. At one point my desk had a 7 mag, 7 wsm, 7 rum, and a straight 284. Then my buddy brought over his 7 saum the same week my brother in law bought a straight 280 for me to load for. So at one point my house housed most the cartridges in the class. I picked the brass case that looked "cool" to me and firmly belive that's a good a reason as any. Reality is all are gonna work just fine, pick one you get a kick out of holding in your hand.
