I don't hunt with anyone who shares the mono kudos. Many of us have tried them, none stuck with them.

I've shot bergers at 2900 fps from 100 yards to 750 into elk. the 215 I put into an elk shoulder at 100 yards retained about 90% of its weight and still reliably expanded at 750. Couldn't ask for more…seems most the mono posts are shorter range stuff, viewing one particular thread on here "they worked great at 200 yards" seems to be the theme…well of course they did, that's what they were designed for.

I find it interesting the OP calls states commies for forcing copper monos for hunters, yet folks want to further facilitate that push by publicly posting how great they are…self licking ice-cream cone right there.
A person who chooses to shoot a mono because they're actually pleased with the performance isn't facilitating a government's imposition of an agenda any more than a person who owns an electric vehicle just because they wanted to have one is (though it wouldn't surprise me if you'd have something insulting to say about anyone that didn't drive the kind of vehicle you do as well if your commentary about bullet selection is any indicator).

I shoot Bergers and eld m bullets and love them, I also shoot Barnes and hammers and love them too. Nosler, fed trophy bonded tips, swift sciroccos and a frames….others no doubt, basic soft points too. Ain't having freedom of choice and choices available a good thing!?!? They all have strengths and weaknesses. There isn't a lead core bullet on earth I'd feel comfy shooting game with at 4000+ fps out of a .257 wby but the 75 grain hammer did great…I also can't imagine any mono doing what a 225 eld m out a 300 Winnie does at lower longer range impact velocities. But I don't understand what the heck you're upset about…and then calling other people "sensitive sally" if they call you on being ridiculous when you're being ridiculous…

I agree states and agencies have no business telling us what we can and cannot choose for big game hunting bullets or what kind of vehicles we should drive or any number of other things that they have a penchant for sticking their nose into.

But I also believe in free countries with freedom of choice and see value in a plethora of options to choose from. If someone wants to shoot monos or drive an electric car that's none of my **** business nor is it my problem, any more than it's the governments business if I shoot lead bullets or opt for gasoline power haha. To accuse someone or anyone who freely chooses to shoot monolithic bullets because they've been pleased with their performance, and has the audacity to relay their good experience with others, of being part of the problem of government overreach is about the most nonsensical thing I've read so far today.

You've come to the pool party only to pee in the pool.

Options you say? Is that like "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor?" Kinda options? I know how that one turned out. Give them an inch, or pages of forum posts saying how great copper monos are, pretty soon you'll see them using your own praises against you. You, as in the royal 'you' that is.

And yes, I'm saving the future of hunting from the mono commies one post at a time. You can thank me later.

Well said @Calvin45

I can't in good faith take a lecture on freedom of choice from a country that just let their politicians ban handgun purchases.

My arguement wasn't about shooting monos. It was posting their overhyped praises on the internet, in turn giving the ammo-ban proponents more ammo, basically shooting ourselves in the foot. Same as how anti-hunters have taken advantage of the numberous folks posting hunting videos on the internet and used that exact same media against them to further their agenda.

It goes about deeper than "monos work". Ove never had a failure with any bullet. Bad shot placement, yes, bad bullet, nope. Hit the vitals and animals die…pretty simple game.

I don't really have a dog in this hunt…..I shoot anything from Hammer and Badlands to Hornady, Barnes and Berger, but I have a friend in NY that shoots ELR with Badlands Super Bulldozer IIs (hunting monos) out of a 33XC and they do well at distance. This is his seven out of eight at 2315 yards. Bottom three are Berger OTMs out of another 33XC.

I've never heard a Canuck make this much sense. My friend, we may not be cut from the same cloth, but I guarantee we've drank from the same water.

Uh huh. So you drank the mono koolaid and haven't shot them yet? Interesting take😂 enjoy the experiment.
I find it interesting that some seem to think that only their experience counts.

There are many on this site that espouse the performance of Barnes bullets but now and then we get a guy who says "Nope, they're worthless"- completely discounting others' experience.

To me, it's a Ford vs Chevy thing. Just because I've had bad luck with Fords doesn't mean everyone else will, too.

Nothing to do with good faith…or lectures…or which country we're from. I know darn well your commander in chief down there doesn't represent or speak for you along with most (if not all) of the fine Americans that constitute the majority of this forum….the same is true north of your border. That I live in a country that has passed moronic gun laws has as much to do with my personal credibility as the fact that you live in a country whose Supreme Court can't come to consensus on how to define who is and is not "a woman" has to do with yours. Which is nothing.

I wouldn't say anything about what I could listen to from you "in good faith" regarding your country of origin. Just your own words. I regard a person on the basis of his or her own words and works.

That looks darn impressive to me. I went on the Badlands site, and they do tout an impressive BC!

Freedom is a word that's easily uttered…much more difficult to maintain, as Canadian gun owners now know. So no, I don't take it lightly, something as simple as ammo type bans is a big deal and the mono crowd is helping further that agenda.

You don't have to agree with me, that's the beauty of it all.

Alright, fair enough, I'm content to agree to disagree. I'm with you 💯 about ammo bans of any kind, i think you're wrong about the "mono crowd" being a problem for those who shoot lead…the way I see it we have enough actual enemies, don't need to start painting fellow hunters and shooters as such.

To each their own. I have no quarrel with you. :)

Some of our very own social media hunter "influencers" are in fact some of huntings worst enemies. Some know it, but don't care, they're in it for the notoriety/monetary gain…if the sport is gone in a decade or two, due in some part to their actions today, it matters not to them.

I have not categorized mono shooters as the problem. I have said I disagree with posting the praises of a bullet being used to justify a lead ban…and equated it to the same principle of influencers posting their hunts online. I appreciate your sentiments.
