Looking for first-hand experience with the Berger 7mm 190 LRHT on game. I found a thread on long range only that covered it a little, but nothing in-depth. The bc is hard to ignore. Anyone have any input?
That's why I'm curious about if the 190s are any better. Few threads have been started over the last 5 years or so, but not much data in them about terminal performance.Several years back we had the 195 EH pencil several critters, gave up on them.
Would you use them over the 195s?Like any other LRHT, open up the meplats with a #72 wire bit, and they crush.
I have used the .224 85.5, .257 135, and 6.5mm 144 quite a bit on game from PDs, to cototes, to pronghorn to mule deer. Not to mention most of the pointed SMKs as well.
I wouldn't hesitate to use the 7mm 190 LRHT on game after opening up the tip.
I would use whatever shoots best without a second thought.Would you use them over the 195s?
Copy! Thank youI would use whatever shoots best without a second thought.
I'm shooting 180 HT's in my 28N currently. But exploring future options for barrel #3135,144 and 153LRHT have been slam dunks for me. Close and out to about 425 so far, started from 2850 velocity "forming" loads to 3299. They rock.
The 180HT is good also, when the 2nd rendition of my 7Mega is complete im shooting 190LRHT and/or McGuires. Both perhaps.
I've stayed clear of 195s because of the reports of delayed killing on the other site. But I'm interested in trying different bullets if it's an upgrade or equal swap. I don't wanna go backwards ballistically or terminally, terminally being most important.I ran the 195s with excellent results for a LOT of distance, inside 500 they could be a little aggressive IMO so I pretty much just shot them for long range and almost exclusively on elk.
