What compares to pelican rifle case?

I have used the pelican 1750 for 13 years on 4 continent's, you can find them new for under $300 or used on flea bay , check out replacement foam it may be a more cost effective way to buy one used and just replace the foam. Good luck.

Are you going to throw it in the back of the truck or flying overseas. Pelican overseas. You can get by local for a lot less.

Pelican makes some great cases for all sorts of things. The biggest drawback is they have a great reputation and have a price that leverages that reputation to get a premium. Great for them, not so great for those of us who are budget conscious.

I don't know anything about SKB cases so can't comment on them.

Personally if you don't mind paying what Pelican charges you should be happy with one of their cases. I've lugged tons of expensive equipment for work in their cases and never had an issue. Otherwise, do some homework and check reviews as there are other options. SKB May or may not be one.

I can tell you Plano is hit or miss. I've had tackleboxes by them that were great but didn't like one of their pistol cases that I had and wound up breaking.

They UK's pretty similar in performance to Pelican - I'm not sure about availability in the States but here in Canada they cost significantly less. Fit and finish goes to Pelican, but I doubt the contents know the difference.

Midway has pelican 1750s every now and again for 189$ with foam. Keep watching.

I bought this for my Lapua due to its length. It wouldn't fit into a Pelican 1750. The next model up was significantly more money and weight, so I went with Plano. Very well made. Components are beefy. It's chunky for weight as well. I have flown with it once, no issues.

I have Pelicans and Boyts. I prefer the Boyts.

I've had both Pelican and Storm cases. I like the looks of the Storm cases better for some reason, but I think the latch design of the Pelican is stronger and I like the removable nameplate feature on the Pelican that you may send off for engraving.

I'll also add that I don't deal with cutting or buying custom foam anymore. I have a great soft case that fits perfectly within my Storm iM3300. I simply leave the top eggshell foam in place and stow the soft case in the bottom. I can't remember offhand, but I might have a thin layer of foam underneath the soft case. It's a great fit and I like not having to haul a hard case around when I arrive at my destination.

Not one case is the proper dimensions for a hunting rifle with a nice scope. I tried them all. Either the case is too short, and the butt of the rifle is against the case, or the scope is too close to the case... too close for comfort.

I finally settled on the SKB case, but again, it's too heavy. Not needed for air travel, no matter what anyone thinks. Who needs a mil spec 25lb case !!

The Barska AX-400 is a lightweight case. Perfect perfect dimensions. I used it on several flights, no problems.

Foam is another story: every case I brought, I didn't like the foam. I brought high density foam in sheets, and cut my own foam. Problem solved. The rifle stays put.

Scopes are made to handle recoil, they can certainly handle being thrown around in a rifle case. Never once did I have a scope lose zero on a flight.

i have a couple boyts. i love them. the main reason is that their latches are better. its a turning hasp vs the rubber tab.

Picked up an rtic case when they were on sale. Couldn't beat the price.
Comparing it to the Pelican, it is very close to the same. The only thing I don't like is the location/size of the holes for padlocks. You definatley need to select the right lock that will work easily on them

Cabelas! Double case. They cheaped out with the foam in the single case and use a waffle foam in the lid but rigid quality foam in the bottom. Cases are very well constructed, waterproof, and air tight!

It's not made by Cabela's. Cabela's slaps their name on it. I had it for 2 days & returned it. Too heavy !!

Check out Apache from Harbor Freight. $150 and it's not a pelican ( which is what I use for rifles ) but I have an Apache for varying pistols to the range and if your on a budget they will be hard to beat.
