Thinking on building a 22 creedmoor for predator hunting. I want as short of a barrel as possible and still hit 3,000 fps with between 75-80 bullets. Any experience with the 22 creedmoor with barrels shorter than 20" out there?

I saw a guy on the 22creed Facebook page was getting over 3k with 80s out of a 16" bolt pistol. I think 22" is a perfect barrel length. Get 3500+ with your desired bullet weight. Yesterday I purchased a Tikka t3x lite in 22-250 with an 8 twist from Whitaker. It'll be rechambered to 22 creed as soon my smith gets his reamer.

Built mine with a 17" barrel and it's awesome. I'm shooting 80 gr Hornady elds at 3284 FPS. Two buddies of mine did the same with close to the same speed

Awesome!! I think I might want to go 18" and I was gonna run the 77g lrx. Which powder are you guys running?

I'm running h4350. Tried the hyped up rl 26 and it was ok but the 4350 is what my rifle likes. I also loaded tipped Sierra 77 gr bullets. They shot really well as well. Both 77 Sierra and 80 ELD shoot the exact same with the same H4350 charge

Not sure what hyped up means as far as Reloder 26 goes but it will get you as much velocity as your going to get from the 22 Creedmoor.
Now wether your rifle shoots it as well as other powders is something else altogether.
My first 22 Creed barrel was 24 inches and it ran the 80gr 3540 when new and even when I couldn't reach the lands any longer I could get 3420.
My new barrel is 21 inches and runs 3300+

From my 24 inch H4350 gave sticky bolt at 3400 blew primer at 3500 with 75's and Hornady brass.....

That's good ole Hornady brass for ya!
I'm using necked down Starline 6mm CM SRP brass and it has performed very well for me. I've got some Alpha brass, but I don't really like to use LRP brass trying to milk performance out of a cartridge. It always fails in the blown primer dept..

Yea when I tried H4350 in the 22 Creedmoor there were no choices except 6.5 Hornady necked down.
Past couple years I have been using Lapua SR brass and it's still going but bought 1000 pieces of the Peterson 22 Creedmoor brass so I am set for a while.

I went with 22", got an 8 twist Bartlein 3b for a great price and am going to concentrate on the 75 ELDM. Bought 1,000 of those, should be enough to get me through a barrel!

I'm using 22" Benchmark and getting 3525 with Berger 75VLD using Starline SR 6mm brass with RL26 and shoots <0.5 Moa. The initial loads with Hornady 6mm brass and 41.5 of N550 was just to hot but works in the Starline brass but just way to temperature sensitive! With H4350 could never get better than 3400 and wouldn't do better than .7 moa
