This was also what I saw with the electrics and with the extremely rough terrain there weight just could not go where the conventional 4x4 could without abusing them. The electrics do have there place and are nice and quite on normal/most lease roads, but maintenance is/was a big issue with me and the machine that i have used for the past 11 years has only needed one set of tires, one engine battery and oil changes. No other maintenance has been required. Total maintenance cost for the last 11 years has been around $500.00 plus the ability to go anywhere I have the nerve to go makes the choice simple for me.

I don't have anything against the electrics, they are just not for me and my uses, and the main reason I added a muffler to complete the total package.

Another issue with the new 4x4s is engine size. it seems like they are getting bigger every year and bigger is not necessarily better, They are louder as a rule and in many cases only add to the speed, not usability. In My Opinion, the engine size that seem to take care of all the hunters needs are somewhere between 350 CCs and 500 CCs and they are fast enough to kill you.

Having a good shop who can work on them is going to be a challenge but important to weigh. I own a ATV/UTV shop in Central Mississippi and I dont work on electrics. and the dealers usually fleece folks. The electric units I have worked on just are not built for what will be required of them compared to ATV's or UTV's

I went with the M2S 750 watt all terrain bike. Man that thing is whisper quiet. I mean you can only hear the rocks under the tires. Has about a 20 mile range at full throttle. It has no trouble with terrain. I actually road it right up to my stand one time. There were 2 does feeding never looked up. Nice thing is it is street legal. I love it. It is a very handy tool. I never considered the UTV as price seems too high, Battery issues and there a couple guys at the camp with them and they don't have the range or capabilities they want. The bike on the other hand was a good choice for me.

That's great to hear. the good ebikes now don't make a sound and nobody ever complains about spooking anything. M2S is a good bike, and yes if you got the 750 watt versiion then you're street legal.
I don't have M2S bikes listed on my store only because they are such a small company they prefer to sell only from their own store. I would have happily listed them along with the other brands I have.

One thing the gas units have yet to over come is a deer's ability to smell. Major advantage electrics, no gas fumes.

electric hunting bikes have come along way, good range, stealthily quiet with a lot of useful add ons like trailers and saddle bags. They can make a real difference.

The image I attached is designed by a guy in California, a company called Rungu.
He was actually trying to build a bike that could travel across kilometers of sandy beaches carrying his surfboard. But after a few variations and hunters started seeing the potential the design was tweaked for offroad use. 1000 watt mid drive motor, 52 Volt battery and each front wheel has it's own fork suspension so the handling is exceptional.

Anyone ever tried one of those Segway things? I'd be concerned about doing a face plant.

I am not going to even PRETEND that I like bikes. The wife has been after me to buy one because she is a hardcore pedal biker (so keep giving me reasons not to buy one please!!!). And I would have laughed my ... off (no offence intended) about using an electric bike to go hunting BUT we were down in Texas on holidays and this guy had one of these and he told me because this model had so much torque that he would even pull a small trailer with a deer on it. And then I saw it on a hunting show.

So This is a bike company that you may want to consider. These guys have an electric bike that can do 33 mph and has a 50 mile range. There are a ton of videos of kids going through major mud etc with the bike. The model below s being shipped down to the states like crazy FOR hunters and yep... enough torque to pull a deer on a t

This definitely isn't for me and I think it's illegal (????) up here unless the gun is cased (I assume???) but I can think of a few places where a bike like this on old bush trails would be phenomenal for moose hunting.

Yes, The Biktrix Juggernaut has that Ultra mid drive motor. I sell that brand too. The mid drive motor is where that torque comes from. ebikes are not for everyone but a lot people get a lot out of them.
