Howdy - I've been lurking for awhile and decided to join in - here is my latest project:

.300 RUM
Blue printed REM 700 LA
Shilen Select Match 1-10", SS, Fluted, 30" barrel
Black laminate stock
Shilen trigger

Still need to finsh the stock, muzzle brake and metal finish. I haven't decided on a scope yet, time will tell. What do you all think?

Welcome and nice project. Did you build the stock from a blank? I have been looking for something like that!

Thanks guys - you're right, I can't wait to fire it at a target or better yet an animal! I've test fired it to make sure everything was in the right place , and it was. I finished the muzzle brake today - it took most of the recoil away :D Almost ready for the Cerakote!

Update - finished the Cerakote (great stuff) and broke in the barrel. Shot a .540 group with factory Remy 180gr stuff @100 - can't wait to get the Bergers through it! I still have some finishing to do on the stock, my adjustable cheek piece should be here this week to help with the scope height. My 13 year old son loves it, the brake takes all the sting away. So far so good :D

You should be very proud as it looks like a great piece of work!

I've made three stocks in my life from blanks. Most people will never appreciate the amount of work that goes into such a project.

From your range report it sounds like you are going to have a lot of years of precision shooting enjoyment coming your way.

Welcome.

First groups handloading - I'm excited! 100 yds, 3 shots, bipod and rear bag from the ground. Not at max yet. I may stop for this kind of accuracy! I haven't chrono'd it yet, if I'm over 3K I'll stop.
