As the title says, I'm new here. I have hunted all my life but just getting into Long range hunting and shooting. Went on an elk hunt in Wyoming and took my trusty Kimber in 30-06. It wears a 2-7 Leupold and felt really good out to 400 yards. Long story short, ended up shooting my elk with the ranchers gun at 650 yards. A 7 SAUM set up for long range. Been hooked ever since. Just picked up a 700P in 300 WM. So just learning. Merry Christmas.

Welcome sounds like your experaince is very common. Being from mich. we rarely shoot over 100. Went out west got hooked. This site is the best for info. Lots of good members and they will cut through the bs quick so you won't get bad info.
Also great choice in caliber.
