Here is my new 6.5x47 Lapua. To say I am impressed is an understatement. I used a Brux barrel for the first time after shooting Broughton's for years. The break in with the Brux barrel was very simple. No copper after the second shot!! The first two groups with no load development landed at .307" and .461" No too shabby. The rifle is a 27 3/4" Brux #4 sporter with interrupted fluting, a Remington 700 action, McMillan A-3 Sporter stock, talley one piece rings, and a Leupold 6.5-20x40 LR. Custom Cerakote was done by mixing 4 different colors to match the stock. A friends girlfriend saw it and named it the "Artic Storm". Can't wait to test drive it on a critter, I have a late cow elk tag and hope to get one shot with the new shooter after Christmas. All the work was done by Trevor at Cloud peak gunworks and he does fantastic work. Check him out.[/IMG]

Isn't that the sickest cartridge ever? I think that it is absolutely impressive. What bullet are you using, etc?

Very nice looking rig.

The first two groups were using 130 JLK's and H4350 and CCI 400. I have a sneakin suspicion that Ramshot Hunter is going to be an awesome powder for the cartridge it's about the same burn rate as 4350 but you can get a lot more in the case. I am also going to switch to CCI 450's. I am very impressed with the caliber, I have been shooting a 6.5-06AI for years and the 47 is not very far behind it shooting several grains less powder. I have yet to read about anyone shooting a barrel out of one but I am guessing 2500 is achievable out of this rig.

Yup, that is what we have found. It will run with the 6.5-06 using 15g or so less powder.

As far as I am concerned it takes a lot of cartridges out of consideration.

The 130g Sirrocco is a terrific hunting bullet with a great bc. Definitely worth trying. It kills like lightning.

Good luck,

Steve

I also have a 22 8 twist barrel laying around that I will have chambered up for this rig in 22x47 Lapua. My gunsmith buddy is running one right now and loves it. Should be good for some winter Yote hunting as well as some long range Chuck huntin.

Here is the first two groups out of it, the one on the left side that is low was the first shot out of a clean barrel, you can see the other 5 (2 in the left target and 3 in the right) would have been sub half inch, not bad right out of the box.

Thats a really nice looking rifle mate,it's a shame the gunsmith made a mistake fitting the bolt handle on the wrong side.:D

Yeah its a shame, he's done that on my last eight rifles but they all turn out so darn purdy I guess the bolt on the wrong side isn't all that big of a deal!!!

another lucky guygun)as they said, life to short........i've been thinking some similar but with some kind of detach mag like H-S, or SEEKINS DBM ....what do y think

Any info about the weight on that package???

Seems to me that this is one of the few rifles that have been built correctly. Really all rifles should be built like this so I could spend even more time trying to figure out what to buy next. Very nice outfit. enjoy!!!
