Anybody seen this Winchester yet? I am thinking of getting one to make my backpack gun. Has anyone shot one or know much about them?

You know, I waited for this gun for over a year. Was all exited at first, but after 14 month of waiting and missing 2 hunting seasons, I gave up and got a Remington Sendero SFII in 300 win mag.
What a pitty winchester could not deliver. Thats what dealer kept telling me for over a year "Not Available" just nice advertisings on the web.
Anyway, I'm glad I got a Sendero

They have a couple at the S.W. here in town. If I could afford one it would be my pick hands down!!!!

Winchester did a GREAT job designing this rifle...Good luck in your search.

I just saw one today it was great felt real solid in my hands. Another guy was picking it up I was jelous. Its the first in that model I have seen and I want one.

Yeah I saw one yesterday in a 26" 300 WN Mag. It looked sweet Just concerned on Accuracy.

Theicon2u,
I havent played with the F.N. Winchesters yet, but why would you be concerned with accuracy out of a Model-70? I own a bunch of Winchesters, and the only two that wont consistantly shoot under 1'' with hand loads are my 94, 30-30(whod have guessed:D) and my M-70 300 wby. some days it will some days it wont. All my other Model-70's shoot quite well.

Well, I waited for this gun for over 2 years and I finally got one and shot one last week. Its everything I expected to be. Safety latch is not as solid as I would like it to be but it works. I could never make up my mind between Remi Model 700 and Win Model 70, so now I got both in my favorite caliber 300 win mag.

Accuracy was ok so far. Fired maybe 10 shots at 50 just to get it on paper and then another 3 at 100 yards into a 2 inch spread. But this is just first set up.
I've just started setting it up with the new scope and had to stop because I'm not happy with the bases I got. Will be changing bases and resetting the entire set up. Once I'm done, will try for good accuracy with my favorite loads and see what happens.
Otherwise the rifle is great !!! Very solid, except the safety latch. Trigger is good, but I like my Remi Sendero trigger better since its easier to adjust.
What I really like is the rifle is so light. It will be easy to carry in the field.

I had the luck of handling one of these a couple of weeks back: very solid feel. Had a Schmidt and Bender on it (the new line with the 1 inch tube). Stock was very comfortable. Got me thinking about the next rifle, needless to say. :)

I did not get an opportunity to fire it.

Regards.
