Just picked up an American predator 25-06. Can't seem to find anything about them. Anyone else have one and what loads does yours like the best?
Tried one load out of it to just get it sighted in. It was 52.5gr h4350 with 100gr Nosler BT shot right under .5 inch at 100. I think I can get it better.Howdy, 25-06. A thread just went through a week or 2. About the 25-06.
Rl= 15, 15.5, 16, 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26.
H= 4350, 4831, 1000, ...
IMR= 4350, 4831, 4064, 7828,...
American Rugers, if it starts shooting well right off, then it a shooter.
If it doesn't, Sale It.
Found it at a small pawn shop. Wish there was another honestlyI wasn't aware the predator was made in 25-06. Where did you get yours?
Probably Berger 115gr or hammersYou have a shooter.
Keep it clean at least the first 20 to 50 rounds. Let us know what bullets you are wanting to use and you will get more help.
If you have H-1000 start 53,54.Probably Berger 115gr or hammers
It sure does I appreciate it.If you have H-1000 start 53,54.
H-4350 = 47,48.
IMR- 7828 = 50,51.
RL-22 = 50,51.
Hammers = Hybrid 100V, H-4350.
Hope this helps.
Have a savage axis 25-06 it loves 117gr with a stout charge of retumbo. I'll definitely have to try some h4831 and the sc version.I'm currently running an old 117 Sierra in mine on 53 grains of H4831 or H4831sc. Funny, I always thought these powdered were interchangeable and for all intents and purposes, I guess they are but I was pleasantly surprised the a got a 70 fps boost out of the SC with the same accuracy. Mine has also been great with 115 Nosler Ballistic tips, 90 grain Sierra Blitzkings and 115 Berger hybrids. Before going to the Hogden powders, I always ran IMR 4831 with great results too. RL-22 was good with the light stuff too. A .25-06 with a 24" bbl. is a Jem to cherish, IMHO.
I've yet to try Retumbo but probably should. My Cooper .25-05 averages .3 to .45 MOA with just about everything. Approximately 1700 rounds through it and I've chased the throat a bit but it's still hanging in there. Here she is. Just a rifle but for me, she might as well be Miss November!Have a savage axis 25-06 it loves 117gr with a stout charge of retumbo. I'll definitely have to try some h4831 and the sc version.
That's a great looking rifle. I dread the day I have to rebarrel some of my 25-06sI've yet to try Retumbo but probably should. My Cooper .25-05 averages .3 to .45 MOA with just about everything. I've Called Nighthawk Custom (who bought Cooper out) to discuss rebarrelling when the time comes and they are still tooling up. I hope they can do it. I've never really pushed the gun to high pressure so I hope it has some reasonable staying power but we will see.That's a great looking rifle. I dread the day I have to rebarrel some of my 25-06s
