What did the vitals look like.

To be honest, I think my shot placement was poor. I hit her right above the heart, through the shoulder, but she was angling away. Knife pointing to entrance hole. So, I didn't really catch much of the heart or lungs. They were damaged but not blown up. She didn't cooperate with me on the classic broadside shot that I wanted but I wanted one this morning and she was starting to disappear into the woods. I think it was good performance considering that my shot could have been placed better. I looked for the bullet but couldn't find anything.

Well….. sometimes you have to see for yourself. I've been wanting to try the Tikka out with those 77 TMKs. Haven't run them over the chronograph yet but they shot well with a maximum load of IMR 4064. Medium size doe at 140 - 150 yards, she ran about 35 yards. No exit. YMMV

Good job buddy! As a side note my Texas WT I hit perfect broadside shoulder at 60 yards with a 308 Win 168 Ballistic Tip and it ran 60-70 yards. We never know how they react.

I left out that I have the 22-250 version of the Teeker 8 twist so the 77 was traveling a bit faster than the 223. I need to chrono but I'm guessing around 3200 ish at the muzzle?

I'll probably get one someday. I have several options that i could do. Get a 22-250 barrel and put it on my 260 AI. Or just do the mods on my AR15 to run 75 gr ELDMs.

I think if I went a .22-250 Rem again, I'd go with the .22-250 Ackley, I would have turned my Weatherby MkV Varmitmatsre in .22-250 Rem into a .22-250 Ackley, but in the State that I was in at the time .24 was the smallest you could hunt with, and after shooting next to G David Tubbs one year in Raton... well, he talked me into the 6XC conversion for, I did it and never looked back it's a fantastic little walking Deer rifle with some serious teeth in it, but I digress. I did have a .22-250 Ackley with a 1-7 twist for bullets over 80gr however I think for hunting and up to 80grs the 1-8' twist worked better. Just my 0.2 Cheers

I decided I want the reduce case capacity of the standard 22-250. And since I'll be using an X Dies I won't have to worry about trimming. I'm going to stick with 88 ELDMs and maybe the 75 ELDM. But thanks for the info! Nice rig BTW.

Perhaps a good decision you can always punch it out later, I might be wrong, but the .22-250 AI doesn't push brass forward as much as the standard might, at any rate, both are great cartridges. Good luck Cheers
