Taxation is evil. Luckily, MT does not have sales tax. I try to avoid taxation as much as I can. In my work performance appraisal system, we can get a bonus in cash, a time off award, or a combination. I prefer the time off award because I get taxed nearly 40% on the cash award.

Yeah well the property tax in MT is nutso. Can't wait to get my new tax bill seeing as the assessed value of my house went up 57% in the past 2 years.

Just went through that last year. Raised mine over 50%. From 4200 to 6700. Complete BS. Assessed at all time highs but I bet they don't reassess when values drop as interest rates climb.

we have Scheels here. They are hit and miss on popular reloading components. When looking for a specific gun. If it's not one they have listed on the website, they cant order it..

Around here, Scheels can order about anything, as long as someone has stock. Pre ordering is hit or miss. I ordered a Browning Hells canyon smoke from them years ago and it was discontinued soon after and I never got one. I think the local manager doesn't want to put in the sweat equity to special order.

Well they did reassess and drop re taxes here when the financial crisis slammed property values. But as it stands now I can only reload using once fired bullets and primers, lol.

Now you all will have to excuse me- I'm going to the reloading bench. I've got a new .280AI and a bunch of Federal 155 TA boolits. Trying to figure out the happy spot with this one.....

I started reloading about 4 years ago. My original goal was to find one load and each rifle and be done, yeah that did t work out. I have at least 2 loads for most, and 4 or 5 for about half of them. With a kid in college and needing to cut down on spending, I've started to look for one load that shoots usually a Barnes TTSX or LRX well. A few of my rifles I lucked out and found one right off the bat, others not so much. I was just at the range yesterday with my .270 WSM, a rifle I could never get a 129 LRX to shoot worth a darn. I changed powders, and wow, I think I have something to work with now. I'll test further, but if it works, I'll have a load with ELD-X's, 140 Gr. BT's, and hopefully the LRX. I'll probably stick with the LRX, as it will cover all of my needs.

A good rifle will shoot everything well. If you want to "shoot" get a .223. Yes, test but pick a bullet and known load data and seat .02 off the lands. .280Ai is not hard to get to shoot great if you have a good rifle.

There is a new thinking that we spend way too much time on testing and getting very anal with our reloading procedures.

A good rifle will shoot MOST bullets well.

But it will shoot a few EXCEPTIONALLY.

Originally I wanted to focus on the 147 gr ELDM for my 260 AI. After hearing of some mid air fragmentations I skipped them. And then there was a decent sale for Barnes 145 gr MB so I got those to fire form and test. They shot great but I wanted some more explosiveness on coyotes and badges so I loaded some 140 gr ELDM's. Now I'm hearing that the 147 gr ELDM might have gone through some changes so I got a box. I still have some 140 gr and 142 gr SMK's in stock. Those might stay slated for 6.5x55 or 6.5x50.

If you live near me it would have been WORSE. They recently raised my "taxes" (not assessed valuation) by 45%. They felt I wasn't paying my fair share. I've only lived here for 40yrs and had a tax increase in about 25 of those years.

I recently shot a bunch of the 147 ELD-M bullets in the Creed, PRC and 6.5x284. I've never had one not make it to the target intact. All the rifles have an 8 twist. They are certainly worth a try.
