Where can you get a dingleberry hone this size? The cheese grader sound does make me think "cheap" so yes it's just a pet peve.As for machining inside the buffer tube I might run a bore hone (you know the dingleberry kind
). It'll get rid of the flatwire noise also.

It's messy like anti-seize I will give you that, I use a chopped off medical swab or a BBQ skewer to apply small amounts. It rarely gets cold enough to slow down anything here. That and I use full or extra power springs and heavy buffers and I don't use adjustable gas blocks

As far as the 6mm arc, I guess I just need to open the gas block all the way up and slowly close it down till it doesn't lock back. Is cycling consistently what you are referring to? Also I have these 2 scratches on my brass after firing. Wondering if it my magizine or feed ramps or ??? Any experience with that?
Was also thinking a rag around an old 12" drill bit with some laping compound might do the trick to hone the tube.
I have a little lathe and thought about tuning a buffer long and making it shorter till I get it where I want it, could you I make a a high power spring recommendation?
How did that BSF barrel work out? I've heard mixed reviews...
Bigger calibers require a bit more finesse. Bolt cyclic speed can cause issues even with an adjustable gas block. It may require a combination of gas block adjustment, a heavier spring and/or a heavier buffer.

When an H3 buffer is routinely on sale for $30ish, it's probably easier and cheaper, weight is but just factor. The correct length is just as important. You want 5/16" - 3/8" between the bolt catch and bolt face when it is in the rear most position.
Test it with your spring removed and your upper off.
Once I was convinced to tune using a spring and buffer, I never purchased another adjustable gas block. Much smoother and less finicky. I was told reducing the one thing that cycles the bolt was crazy, hard to adjust the gas block in a SHTF scenario. I just took it and applied it to every rifle I built. I also open up the gas port if required, just a few .001"s at a time, but I have only had to do a couple.
I Lego-ed together an AR10 on an Aero 5E upper lower hand guard set…24" Brownells 1:8 5R barrel…single stage 2.5 lb trigger(what ever brand was on sale that week)…some low profile gas block.
Weighs about 10lbs and shoots Midsouth's 130gr match target bullets with boring accuracy…1/2 moa without any fancy brag worthy fancy parts…
I don't enjoy this unwieldy beast as much as I thought I would…feels like I got sucked down the Creedmoor Needsmore hole with this build.
l just may throw a 243 Win barrel on it.

I haven't shot it much due to time. Working on cycling, because of the Odin buttstock. I do have an agb.
I don't understand, you legod not fancy parts together and it shoots boringly well… what exactly are you disappointed in?
