I went with the origin action, c6 barrel, AG stock, Hawkins bdl bottom metal, trigger tech special. Cartridge is a 280 Ackley. I assemble the gun myself using Manson go/no go gauges.

Thank you all for the help. This has turned into a great thread. I started off wanting a reputable smith to build me a gun and I found one a few hours away that came highly recommended. I called and talked with him and he told me he was a year and a half backlogged which is good for business but I am just not willing to wait that long.
So for now I just went forward on ordering an action and a pre-fit barrel. I will continue to try and find a stock I like, a trigger, bottom metal, and see how it shoots. I appreciate all the help and information. Maybe you guys can continue to keep ideas coming.

If you are using a nut and have to do the headspace yourself, only buy a go gauge and look up the scotch tape method. Gavintoobe and Erik Cortina have videos out there. It is more accurate than a no-go and saves you the 1/2 $s.
This stock is great and is ready to go.

Shot great with nosler trophy grade 160 gr partitions. Just now starting to gather components for load development with 143 hammer hunters and 155s.
What action and barrel did you order? Curiosity is killing me

AG composites and Peak 44 are excellent and they aren't as holy cow expensive...
Enjoy the chase! I've done both ways and got closer to exactly what I wanted doing it myself. Now if I could only stop wanting something just a little different I would be in great shape!!

Get a barrel.vise and action wrench and you are half way there
It's a LAW m704. Controlled round feed with a Winchester style Saftey, Timney trigger at about 1.75 lbs. I haven't found the perfect load yet but I'm working on it

Excellent choice! You will love it. Zermatt will send you an action wrench with your Origin if you ask for one. Then you only need to buy a barrel vise. Here are my suggestions for that: If you want the mac daddy of vises, go to Short Action Customs. They actually have two - the Bravo is more than adequate for you and unless you really get into rolling your own and switch barrels a lot, you won't need their modular one. If you have the cash to burn, it's really nice though and makes quick work of things. I personally use the Viper Barrel vise with my Origin and if you're really only going to use it once to build your rifle, you can't beat the price (plus I use Inline Fabrication's brilliant reloading bench system and they have a custom plate for the Viper I use - they can custom make a plate for any vise though so it wasn't a huge factor). I love the durable powder coat finish, it looks very nice, and I've talked with Bob, "the Viper" Pastor who makes them and is a super great guy. Some of the online sites like Brownells incorrectly spec the max OD barrel diameter it can handle is 1" but the correct OD diameter max is 1.35" (Bob actually tells me you can go up to 1.5") - plenty for your Proof barrel. PMA tool makes a nice one too that's unfinished aluminum and almost identical to the Viper (Bob might even make it for them).

The viper and pma vise's are similar but the pma you can remove the 4 nuts and 1/4 turn the top of smaller diameter barrels. I bought the pma for the just in case times. Both are great quality. I did put 2 pieces of leather in the jaws just to give a little more protection for the barrel. You can't go wrong with either one.
I have the viper vise and it works awesome. Simple.
