6.5 sst (sherman short tactical) arrived

Just got done cerakoting. Here is my 6.5 SST in cobalt kinectics green in a grayboe stock. Hawkins M5 DBM. I hope I draw a sheep this year but this one is still for sale. This is the rifle from the target pictures from above post. IMG_9820.JPGIMG_9821.JPGIMG_9822.JPGIMG_9823.JPGIMG_9824.JPG

Here is another load with the 150g SMK's. While Magpro gave consistent sub 10 ES it was terribly inaccurate so I am not using it anymore. I ran N560 at 58g to 3146 fps but there was some slight pressure ejector marks so I backed down. I finalized this load at 56g running 3073 fps with about an average 20 ES. Good enough for what I am doing. My BTO is 2.184 which puts me at a 2.920 COL. This is an easy load and very accurate. All the N560 shot great. Not sure why Magpro shot so poorly. I am going to go back to my load of 59g N565 and the 156g Bergers. That gets around 3020 fps. I will test a longer COL since I have the room.

Have you tested N560 in dif temps? It does great for speed, but from many accounts, is very temp sensitive.
I have. It does not like 75 and above in my testing. MV and pressure go up. I have been shooting in 40 to 50 degree temps so it has been fine. N565 seems to be more stable and I just got more of that powder. If I have to change loads for the summer I will. decreasing the charge weights for warmer temps. I just can't find enough of the temperature insensitive powders to trade out. I don't shoot a lot in 80 degree plus weather though.

Loading for my fourth year of hunting with the 6.5 SST. I'm currently at 3000fps with 54gr of H1000. 147 ELDMs. This bullet and powder is what I've been shooting since the beginning. I've only brought the charge down from 56gr to maintain 3K. It has been trying to creep up over the years. I suspect from the powder losing moisture over time. I checked for a carbon ring last week before checking load, zero, and seating depth. None seen with the borescope. I've been shooting at .090" jump the whole time as well. Just thought I'd recheck .120, .090, .080, and .070 as I zeroed. I never shot .070 after seeing 90 and 80 group up.
