Best hunting scope

Cost conscious - VX5HD works well.

NX8 is a great blend of weight, zoom range & ruggedness for a heck of a value.
Agreed. Did a lot of research (with with cost as a factor) and landed on the NX8. Still spent plenty, but the weight/durability/clarity is excellent. Very happy with this choice. Connatter you would not second guess this choice once you had it in hand.

If you are considering the top quality brands (NF, ZCO, TT, Zeiss, Swaro, S&B) you're going to get good glass. I find that the reticle is an area where personal preference is the deciding factor. Do your research.

The secondary or follow up question will be…

Is the tangent really that much better and worth the extra $?

Truth!

As is often repeated "opinions are like elbows.......everyone has a couple". Nothing could be more true when it comes to firearms and scopes. Bottom line as has been said previously, only you can make the determination on what is best for your situation. Do your research and then go to an NRA convention or other sporting goods show where you can look at a number of vendors offerings.

It was not mentioned what caliber/cartridge you are shooting. Experience has found that something like a .300 Win Mag, .338 Lapua Mag, .375 Cheytac, .50 BGM, etc. really punishes a scope. Nightforce has held up nicely for me with the larger calibers but I'm sure there are others that will do the same. Tough to make a switch when one finds something that works. There seem to be lots of good glass that works well in the small to medium calibers.

For me personally no, no it's not.

I am looking to get a new scope I want it as light as possible. But want to dial out to 1000 yards. Just looking for your input and knowledge. Cost is not an issue thanks
Ok, thats way way too general with way too broad of a spectrum to cover. Its like posting " I'm interested in gettin a boat, any suggestions "? Without seriously narrowing down the parameters of what you're looking for & its intended use, you're going to get replies from bass boats to sail boats to cabin cruisers resulting only in a giant waste of everyones time.

I have a lot of fine scopes but find I tend to use our Leupold Mark 5 3.6x18 FFP mil dot reticle scopes most often but we really like our Night Force ATACR and NX8 scopes as well, then there are our Leupold Mark 8 and Mark 6 scopes, lots of good glass anymore.
