Best 6.5 CM Hunting Bullet for Moderate Long Range Distances

Been a lot of testing on all copper bullets and they all do the same under 2000 fps. They all start to tumble and change direction. This a common thing with all copper bullets. They are also harder then lead core bullets so they will wear on your barrel along with excessive speed. If that's your choice I say go ahead but sooner of later you will have a failure and lose an animal. I have confidence from years of service in lead core bullets and will stay with them.
Well that certainly isn't true.

You need much better and much more reliable and open minded sources.

I have to say I was never a fan of Barnes they seemed so hit or miss. And even when they worked they were not that great. At least with Berger when they work they are amazing. I always say Berger's for me are like mechanical broadheads when they work which is over 90 percent of the time they are simply amazing but it's that small percent they don't that bothers me.
I've had very good luck with hammers.
The TSX is notorious for just penciling through with close range high velocity impacts.

The TTSX and LRX at least in my experience are much more reliable.

Afraid it is true. Lot's of folks out there testing bullets every day. We try to test bullets as we can find them and what I said is true. You sir may not believe the testing but it is true.

One point to be made here for some context. This site is probably a culmination of greatest collection of bullets testers anywhere. You can see there are all sorts of folks with all sorts of preferences. Most of the guys here have gone through an extended evolution to get to that preference through personal experience, trial, and error. A couple of samples first or second hand can certainly give an individual an opinion, but not a complete or accurate assessment of a bullets performance tendencies. With bullets and game there are no absolutes (other than Hammers in name only).

No if you want a quick kill you want to interrupt the Central Nervous System and/or get the blood pressure to zero as quickly as possible.

FMJ's are illegal for hurting in most states because of over penetration and the failure to produce consistent wounding.

A controlled expansion bullet placed properly will consistently provide that quick, clean, humane kill as long as it's being used within it's design parameters as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Ge Mr. Wisard, that's what hydraulic and hydrostatic shock do. I guess yo got me there!!

Yeah it's full of opinions but it seems only a few are notable. Maybe someone does have experience but on here they get bashed. The main reason most people go to mono's is because the have to but there are a lot of shooters like myself that find it humorous to read some of the pathetic stuff hunters will say to other hunters when we should either get together or just let the government take it all away. As for me and my hunting and shooting buddies that do actually reload and test equipment to make sure we can make shots that most people can't, we stick together and learn from each other. I hope you have fun in all you do..

That has to be among the most irresponsible things I've ever seen posted. There's practically no energy left in the round at all at that range. A guy taking such a shot with me would never hunt with me again.
I agree. Imagine it that bullet hit even a rib. Or worse a shoulder. That's a wounded game that you never find. Not sure about you but I've shot enough at 1000k with a 300 win mag to know that you don't always hit where you want. Heck you hit anywhere but cns and you are asking to lose that.

I am not forced to use copper in fact Michigan wouldn't care if you shot toxic waste. Won't make Detroit any worse.
I chose to based on how much better they performed over a vast collection of game in different situations.
To me it was best of both worlds once hammers and cutting edge came about. Front half of the bullet comes apart doing damage inside like a cup core but always left a shank to put an exit hole like a Barnes.
For me the ripoff is in the smaller caliber doing things they would fail at with cup core. The amount of tough large game I've taken with a 97gr hammer out of a grendel is simply amazing. And that was moving from the eld in that caliber also. Vastly different performance when compared.
But again. I'm glad we have choices or we would all be shooting old round nose still.

Small fragments and worse bullets that don't penetrate into the body cavity produce little of either as do those that simply pencil through.
Any one talking about energy dump then shoots a elk at 1200 plus yds with a 6.5 x47 , dosnt sound credible too me there wouldn't be enough energy dump left over too kill a jack rabbit . There is no way I would attempt a 1200 yd shot on a Elk with a 6.5 x 47 no matter the circumstances.

I ran the ballistics on the 6.5x47 at 1,200yds. Whomever made that claim was lying to him.

You'd have to hold your tongue just right to pop a milk jug at that range with the 6.5L.
