G'day all, I am interested to hear how popular the 25-06 is for deer, all species and speed goats.
I use mine (3) for our small Hog deer, Fallow, Rusa and Chital.
I also have just acquired a 257 Bee, haven't shot it much so far, but the factory ammo I got is fast, so will be using that too in the future.
I feel the 25-06 is one the most underrated cartridges out there.
I have a 257 Bob AI barrel, but it is not screwed onto an action at this time, as I lost interest in it due to necks splitting no matter what I did to the brass.
Interested to hear how many use it.
I would do a poll, but that is beyond my capabiiities on this forum.

Cheers.

I built a .25-06AI 16 years ago, just KNOWING I was due for an AZ pronghorn tag with 10 bonus points......yeah right. Still waiting on that tag to happen.

But, I shot a lot of mule deer and coyotes with it over 15 years. Smashed deer. It was a 1:10" twist, so was limited to the 115 VLDs. 3450 w, 115s, and 3600 w. 100TTSX.

Now that the 131 Blackjack, 133 Berger Elite, and 135 Berger LR Hyb are out, the .25s are seeing a huge resurgence. The .25-06 Rem will come back out of the woodwork with people slapping fast twist barrels on them and crushing deer.

My 25:06AI has accounted for everything from Washington Blacktail to Idaho Whitetail with one Nevada Mulley thrown in, and a careless coyote who wandered too close. The distances ranged from 230 to 540. I also have a 250 Savage and a 257 Roberts. They've worked equally well over the years. Needless to say - I'm a big 25 caliber fan.

Love my 25-06. It's my confidence rifle, I know when I put those crosshairs on a target, that's where it will hit every single time if I do my part. It loves 100gr Barnes TTSX Vor-TX factory loads and shoots quarter MOA with them.

Factory rifle, factory loads, only mod to the rifle was a Timney drop in trigger. Hard to beat that!

45 years ago, I got my first Rifle, a Ruger 77 in 25-06. Back then when I was raising 4 kids, money was tight. I chose the 25-06 because I could download with 75 gr bullets and shoot varmints or upload to 117 gr bullets and shoot deer. I have used it in the woods with round nose bullets or out in fields with Sierra PH bullets and taken a lot of deer with both. I have and shoot this rifle still. I have since acquired several other 25 cal rifles from Wbys to Bobs to custom 7.5 Twist 25-06 AI barrels. They ALL shot well with hand-loads. (1/2 MOA) They are a pleasure to shoot and all of them are extremely deadly. Never lost a deer and most of them either dropped right there or went no more than 50 yds. Finally got some Hammers and am looking forward to using them on some deer with the AI barrel. Long live the quarter bore!!

Favorite cartridge, got my 1st one in 1966. Custom FN Mauser Supreme action, Douglas 24" Premium barrel. Still have it, and several others. Went the light bullet for varmints and coyotes and the 117's for deer and speed goats. Finally settled on 100's for every thing. Kill any deer walking with 100's. Shot Sierra boat tails for years. Now use Nosler Ballistic Tips and Barnes tipped. Will pass them on to grandkids.

I've been shooting the 25-06's for several decades, and they have performed well on varmints to elk. Actually, one of my 25's holds my longest kill shots on P-dogs and coyotes at the 1,031 and 1,018yd mark.

I have loaded and hunted game with bullets from the 80gr Barnes TTSX @ over 3,800fps, the old 85 X @ 3,750fps, Nosler 85BT, 100BT and their 110AB, and a host of other varied 100's, 117''s, and 120's. For varmints, a long time ago I settled on the Nosler 85BT for its best accuracy and downrange performance from my rifles.

Even elk size game within reasonable ranges, good bullet selection and shot placement fall to the 25-06. It works.
