And the next Contestant on "Who's Head is Gonna Spin" C'mon Down

Well....being I met him in an archery deer camp once..didnt really like the guy...but....this is a good point and exactly on par....
Rifles create cavities...bows create channels....ive knocked down deer and elk with 'poor' shots at close range with a bow...the elk got up and ran a ways before I got the next arrow thru the vitals...deer fell straight to ground..did not get..but a second arrow finished it off...
Yep..just because the bullet is bigger and 'maybe' more powder.. doesnt mean that animal is going to fall over....
In all my experience...the animal with least alert is the one falls over..if it is alerted to danger the adrenaline keeps it going....
I've shot elk and deer at 6' with a bow..out to 50yds....
With a rifle longest on deer is 329yds..flopped over backwards from a bedded alert position(it saw me)...
elk 462..folded it in half with hit at base of ear(never knew I was there)..tough to find in tall sage....

Old Buddy, you just had to go there, didn't you. My take. He did not discuss hydrostatic shock which immobilizes an animal long enough for it to die. DRT with the right cartridge / bullet / animal combo. Also missed what happens when the temporary wound channel exceeds the body size of an animal. You've seen it on prairie dogs and other small game, but how many have seen it with deer? A 300RUM will do it with the right bullet, and it is quite messy.

My old man and grandpa always argued this. Dad was always talking about "shock" and his 7RM, grandpa was a slug, 401WSL, 308 or '06 guy shooting heavies. I always listened to both sides and ended up liking fast and big/slow. I will say that of all DRT shots or "knockdowns", most were with speed.

Both work and there's no arguing that, I myself prefer the speed and shock, Did anyone notice what he had on the table ?

So would this be considered hydrostatic shock or drop!
