OK, all parts are gathered up neatly organized in a large plastic clear tote, action and bolt just back from Penrod Precision, and now I have to wait 8-10 weeks for barrel. ARGHHHHH!

How do you pass this time away without going nuts fidgeting looking at each part 10,000 times? I refrain from holding trued action to protect the new blueing but even that is difficult.

I have all the powder, brass, primers and bullets I need for this build (.270 Win 1:8 5R 27" Light Palma) throated to allow longer heavier higher BC bullets so nothing I can do there.

I had right shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago so cannot even shoot to pass the time away. You can only load so much for other rifles and they are all good there.

Cleaned and organized loading bench 10X so far.

Cleaned and organized my rifle cleaning table 10X so far.

When I am fishing I am thinking of the build so even that doesn't clear my mind. I hope this build turns out half as good as I envision since it is one I am really truly excited to see how it performs.

Am I only one like this?

Can you buy a savage so you can order pre-fit and chambered barrels delivered you can change yourself?
Even pre-fits are typically 8-12 weeks IF it is a standard cartridge with standard SAAMI configuration. If I am changing barrel out it is usually has a chamber configuration specific to my needs.

The funny thing us try to find a decent Savage even for a quick change build. Good luck!

Time to practice with your other side and break out the handguns and practice weak side with those also. While not used often it's great to have confidence with either side. I am a lefty. My longest right hand shot is a bit over 325 yards on a coyote. That was the only shot I had.

My last 3 blanks took 3 months from time of order until they hit my door.
My last stocks I ordered took 12 months...yes, a whole year!
This time I am ordering Manners stocks, should be a quarter of the time. Fingers crossed.

I plan my next build while doing a few rifles for my few regular buddies, they're like me and want to change barrels to try something better.

Cheers.
