Badlands Precision Bullets thread - From BC to terminal ballistics

Well the prof is in the results. I just ordered two boxes of 50 each. 6.5, 125gr . Have three 6.5's to give them a try in. How they workout I will report here . Let you know after a couple of weeks. Have to be delivered , then loads worked up. 260 Rem , 6.5x06, & 264 mag. Will wring them out

Anyone have the dimensions on the gen 2 7mm? I emailed George for specs as I have a 8 twist barrel I'll be setting up for a 7 SS and all I got back was G1 BC .620 and 7 twist recommended and they have four other redesigned bullets that will be released between now and January. I'd like to run some stability calcs on the Gen 2 7mm to see how close it is with the 8 twist and my elevation.

Maybe just call him? That's how I have communicated with him.

Dang, another new bullet option to look at 😆. Good BC and all copper with effective performance on game, just what I need. May need to build a new rifle 😉. Seems like high twist will be needed?

I ran the Stability on the 145 gr. .284 Badlands with a 9 twist and it is 1.69- which is stable. Haven't shot any Badlands yet but for comparison the 155 gr. .284 Cutting Edge bullet is .015" longer than the Badlands, they recommend 9 twist and I have had good results out of a 9 twist with them.

Ya, seems like most of these mono's need a pretty tight twist! The 7mm 145 version seems to need a 7 twist, however this 270 .338 needs a 9 twist. I think whenever I rebarrel, as long as these bullets perform well on game after a couple seasons, I'll probably go with an 8 twist so I won't be on the line with stabilization with the redesigned 270

Was that with the one on his site? The redisigned 145 is not listed to my knowledge, you need to call or email I think to order them. The one on his site is a different design, and has like a .520 G7 I think.

Oh ok, awesome, I wasn't aware you had them in hand! What is the OAL, if you don't mind? I wonder why a 7 twist would be needed then......Thank you for the information!! I will be running this bullet in at least one 7mm, likely more....

They are 1.450". Side by side the bearing surface looks real close to the same with a 162 ELDX and the 155 CE.
I am at 5500 asl and can push them 3450 fps or better. I have a new NX8 coming this week so I will try them by early next week. If they don't fly they can go on the shelf with many more LOL

Awesome, very interested in your results.

Very good Mr Adams. Encouraging to hear about your success. When my order of 6.5 Badland bullets arrive I will do my best to give them a fair appraisal. I have three 6.5's that shoot the Hammer brand into tiny groups. They also put elk down with authority. If the Badlands are as good I will for sure post it here. I am no professional but have been shooting since I was 6 or 7 ( hunting for food ) & reloading since I was 18. Now only 76 , I am beginning to understand this loading thing a bit. God willing another fine elk in the freezer this season. Hopefully W. Montana is as agreeable to the Badland bullet as is S W Wyoming. Thanks for the heads up on this bullet.

Please let me know what you find. I also have a 8 twist 7mm and am really hoping it'll do just fine.

Didn't bother to continue reading the thread. Good to know someone else is testing these out also.
