7mm-08 loads with 154gr SST, 139gr SST and 120gr Ballistic Tip

You may not want to go heavy but I shoot a 162 AMax at 2700 fps out of my 24" Rem 700 and it s consistent 5/8-3/4". Got lots of 3 shot groups at 1/2" or slightly under.... it usually comes to my day/work behind the trigger.

I shoot 47.2 grs of H4350 with CCI250 in WW case with this. 2.90 OAL as I have extended Wyatt Mag. It's a full house load so work up. Primer pockets staying tight. That bullet makes the 7-08 a hammer even out at 600-800 yds !

I don't mind going heavy at all, from my experience its better for taking down game. I've use 160gr Partitions and Sierra Gamekings before, I just have lots of 120gr, 139gr and 140gr bullets to go through.

I also have some 150gr and 154gr bullets which are what I was working on this past weekend, and lots of 160gr and 162gr bullets as well. The 160gr and 162gr ones I use mostly on my 7 Rem Mag except the A-Max, too soft for magnum speeds.

The 1 box of the 162gr A-Max I have I want to use them on coues whitetails and mulies and I'll provably keep my shots under 650 yds. I'll get some H4350 and try it out.

Thanks again.

Has anyone tried that Ramshot Hunter powder on their 7mm-08's, looks good on heavy for caliber bullets.

Lpoking at the Nosler load data:
- 160gr bullets above 2,700
- 150gr bullets above 2,800
that would be nice for higher BC bullets.

I have a box of 168 smk, that was given to me by a member here, that I'm dying to try. I have 17, 16, Varget, 380, cfe223. Thinking probably the 16. I know it's no freight train, but these things are sexxyyyyyy!
Lapua brass on its way too! Sick of playing with junk brass!
Thoughts on powder, and charges?

About 25 years ago we used the 168gr Sierra Matchking HPBT for silhouette competition, we used IMR-4350 on one rifle and 4895 on the other but don't remember the exact charges, both rifles were 28" barrels. Cloverleaf groups at 200m and average 1 MOA groups at 500m with them on both rifles. They are crazy accurate bullets but we had to switch to the 150gr version in order to knock down the Rams at 500m. The 168gr just did not have enough punch at that distance. You'll definitely have some fun with them.

I just want to go a little 2-300 yard paper punching, as I know these are accurate bullets. Not going to shoot that weight for hunting, target. The bc alone, just screams, shoot me! Its kinda like shooting a 178, in a .308. Fun stuff!
I've got some 150 smk, too!

I shot 40.8 grs Varget with 162 AMax. It shot sub MOA but 4350 burn rate got another 50 fps and probably a 1/4 -3/8" tighter groups. You could try Varget; probably 39-40 grs will be area. Start low. I d go a slower burner though with the 168 s if I was you.

BTW, the 47.2 gr load of H4350 that I shoot with AMax I stumbled into on Dan Newberrys OCW website .... someone had developed it. I started at around 45 grs and worked up. It's a full case. If your OAL is under 2.9" you ll probably be more in the 44-45 gr range. Again, start low and work up.

Let us know how they shoot when you make it out.
