Has anyone spent much time with the 214 hammer hunter 30 cal?

Im about to receive a new full custom 9 twist 300prc and thought about giving these a go.

Any real world bc or terminal performance experience? I live at 1000 feet elevation, I'm hoping 9 twist is enough for them.

Thanks in advance!

I would check with Steve (hammer) but I think you might need more twist for the 214. I think the 196 class may be the ticket.

It would not be black and red by chance?

Their page indicates the 214 will work. The 196 will as well. I think the 199 is where you want to be. You have the 1-9" twist to take advantage of the additional length.

No doubt the 214 would be a great bullet, I would prefer more case to get it's full potential.

I messed around with the 214s in my 8 twist .300 win mag. They shot good but only at the absolute upper end of pressure and I trashed my Norma brass after 3 firings. I'm running the 199s in my .300 win mag at just a tick under 3100 fps. They seem to me to be the best option since they have a G7 BC of .299 which is pretty good for a copper bullet.

I've shot the hammers a lot out of my 9 twist 30 Nosler......Steve will likely recommend the 181's for the 300 PRC. I agree the 199's are a good option also.

How far do you intend to shoot? A lighter bullet driven faster can be better inside of certain yardages.

800 to 1000 is as far as I can stretch it here locally.

Best bet would be to get a few sample packs from hammer ( they come in 15 packs) and see what does best. Inside 800 I'll bet a 181, 196, or 199 might be the ticket. Oddly enough my accuracy node is faster with the 199s than the 181s. With the 181s I'm running them at 3060fps and 3090 with a 199. Not sure why but that's how my rifle worked.
